An update for the Bob’s Board Head to Head Prediction competition rules and general information for the start of Stage 1 for all existing and new entrants.

Here we go again. So far we have 58 entrants and there is still space for more and still a few of last years entrants still to confirm. After reading this and you would like to enter then please reply to this thread and I will add you to the League.

Structure

There will be 3 stages to the prediction league through the 2023/24 season with 15 rounds in each stage with Stage 1 due to commence on Saturday 5th August 2023 and the first round of fixtures and games to predict being released on Sunday 30th July.

Each stage will be 15 games as each person goes head to head with their opponents once in each stage. There will be an automatic 2 up and 2 down from each league at the end of each stage and also playoffs. Play offs will include the team finishing third bottom in the league against the teams finishing third and fourth in the league below. The play off winner will be calculated by adding the scores for the 10 games plus the extra games of round 15 and the highest scoring team will be deemed as the winner of the play off. If more than one of the play off teams are level, then the winner will be decided on the highest prediction points scored in that stage. If scores are still level then there will be a penalty shoot out countdown of the games predicted on round 15 going from points scored by both players from game 1 working down of head to head points scored in each game. This same process will be used if any promotion or play off spots in the leagues finish level on points and prediction points.

Divisions 1,2,3 will consist of 16 players in each. Division 4 currently has 11 players and room for more. Please encourage family and friends to join, even if just for bragging rights.

Rules

Each round will consist of 10 games to predict from any of Premier League, Championship, League 1, League 2, National League, Scots Prem or random special games. Weekend games will be over Saturday and Sunday and watch out for any early Saturday kick offs. There will be some midweek prediction rounds so watch out for these.

I will add 4 extra games each week to predict. These are only back up in case of any postponements or cancellations. These games will only count when I confirm they have been included as a replacement which will appear on the prediction thread. Bankers can be moved to these games when they are included, do not claim them as a banker when they are not in play as they will not be counted. If a person claims more than 2 bankers by mistake then the first 2 will be counted only.

Each player will need to predict the score for both teams in the games identified for each round and identify 2 games as their bankers where the points for these will count as double. There will be a new thread for each round.

Predictions will need to be submitted before each game kicks off. any submissions after a game kicks off will not be accepted. Once prediction games have commenced no changes to predictions will be allowed. The only exception to this rule is any player submitting late predictions where they can only predict for games not yet kicked off. There will be no exceptions to this rule this season.

Head to Head fixtures will be published at the same time as the games to predict, except for round 1 where fixtures will not be confirmed until the Friday night as I wait for any late entries. Results will be published on Bobs Board on a results thread after each round.

Quite simply, the person scoring the most prediction points in the head to head will get 3 points and the loser will get 0 points, if its a draw then both teams will score one point. A league table will be posted up on the results thread starting after Round 3.

Positions in the table will be determined by the team with the highest number of points from the head to head games. If players are level on points then places will be determined by prediction points scored. If the prediction scores are level then the place in the table will be determined by the number of bonus points scored and then the head to head of the game played between both. If a player stops predicting then depending on the number of games predicted, may have their results expunged following a meeting of the committee(me).

Scoring

There are 10 games to predict

Correct score for both teams 3 points

Correct result but not correct score 1 point

Incorrect result 0 points

Identified bankers will score double points

There will also be one bonus point awarded to the person or persons who get the highest prediction score each week in each division.

All scoring is done manually by me so if you think I have added your score up incorrectly then please write in the results thread and I will double check for you. I am human and have been known to make the odd mistake!!

As always, its important to remember that this is just for fun. Banter and Micky taking is encouraged.

If anyone has any questions just ask

Good luck everyone.
