Interesting. Doubt that Doyle will go to either of the clubs mentioned

I doubt it either..Millwall is a bit of a stagnant move and Bristol City flatter to deceive. Btw if he did move to either of those two those suggesting a fee of about £4.30 rather than £2mill are probably about right!

Not entirely sure i believe that paragragh to be honest....its a bit lazy to just say "expected to move one" when its more a case of guessing because of the goals he's scored and those two teams appear to have just been plucked out of thin air as i've seen nothing else to suggest either are interested in him.

It only says we spoke to him it doesn't actually say we offered him anything to turn down. He's happy to be staying there reads to me like someone that thought he was going and is appeasing the fans and saying what they want to hear

The article linked above has the following in it :-

Quote

"Once the season was over, I went over to Chesterfield and Paul showed me around and offered me a contract," said Fagan yesterday after being named SSE Airtricity/SWAI Player of the Month for November on the back of his Aviva heroics.

Sounds like the lad is happy to stay in Dublin and perform well in their league. If he doesn't want to take the risk of moving to England and working his way into the football league then fair enough, and its better to spend that wage on someone who is hungry to play for us.

Maybe, having just bought a house, he doesn't want to uproot his young family, and that money isn't his only priority?

He turned us down, so what.

Millwall are in a higher division, get 12 and 13 thousand gates and would most likely pay much more than CFC.

Bristol City are going well at the top of the division, and again have much bigger gates and would pay much more than CFC.

Can either afford a seven figure sum though?
A new hope.

Maybe a swap deal with Aiden O`Brien and cash our way if he went to Millwall?
A new hope.

I think there would be a lot of unhappy fans if he left for a million.

And one very happy chairman/major shareholder.

Doyles price will only rocket in to 7 figures if there are multiple rich clubs vying for his signature.

I'd be surprised if he goes for £1m, never mind the £2.5 constantly mentioned on here.

To receive a fee of less than £1M for a striker who has scored 20+ goals in the third tier in half a season at would be a remarkable achievement even by our standards

Sadly you may be correct

Given he isn't out of contract at the end of the season, you're correct.
