first off, my apologies. Simply mentioning Mr Brown by name goes through me, and I'm sure that many of you will have similar sensations. I wanted to pick some of your brains if possible. In the light of recent events at Portsmouth, Chester and a few other clubs, I thought it was high time that someone tried to document the shady character who nearly killed our club and the way in which he was thwarted in his attempts by those who cared enough to act.
I realise its now a distant and dank memory for many of us (myself included, I was only 14 when Brown took over and as such, I think at that time, girls and cigarettes had taken my mind away from town a touch), but I'm going to attempt to write a screen-play about his time in charge and to do this, I'm going to need some of you folks out there who are willing to fill me in some of the details. If any of you have any particular memories about Brown and his time at the club, please feel free to drop me a line...anything you have, info wise will be of great use to me!

Thanks again folks, now you can all relax and go back to feeling smug about us being top of the table, just as I am!

Well, I was tempted to make something up, you know, fake team name and the like, but seeing as we have experienced such foolishness first hand...of course, it's very early days like. But yeah, anything anyone has, any little slices of info or even rumour could come in handy. Ta.

Mark Ashmore's Crooked Spireites book cover's the County meeting and other bits
Got lots of tales far to many to write down from the first time I met him at the Winding Wheel fans forum after he gave Nicky Law the managers job then the big reveal when Dave Wood and Dean Newman resigned from the board and then after at Orient then the launch of the CFSS etc.
72+ points Play off's

Four of the original CFSS Board that took over after Brown are still on the Board of CFC including two who also sit on the CFSS/Supporters Club Board. Most others are still connected to the Club. There are plenty to consult.
Mark's book seems to me a first rate and personal account.
However the best person to talk to, or even base a story around, is Jim Brown. He was the real hero of this time.
