O'Neill is shouting at the supporters to "shut the FK up" after criticism for making a mistake leading to a goal?? Was the criticism over the top or uncalled for?? Because if it wasn't, he needs pulling into line very quickly and reminding of his responsibilities as a professional footballer still finding his feet.

So his responsibilities include mostly taking mindless sh173, because that's what it was, from lads who've had a sniff of the barmaids apron, and have never kicked a balloon in anger let alone a football at any level?

Just seen the highlights from the game. O'Neil just kept backing off then let his man easily pass him to put the cross in. Don't know if he is frightened to put a hard tackle in with his knee injury, but this could cost us if it happens regularly. We desperately need a quality RB. Slagging him off will not help his confidence though.

Most of the people who I heard criticising him were sober and realised that he was played out of position. Maybe you didn't spot that.

What does that add up to? If accurate.

Pretty sure it wasn't Ilson's first team Simons was playing for? Credit to Full Contact, anyway.
These go to eleven.

If you'd care to re-read my post, I actually asked if the criticism was over the top or uncalled for and then stated if it wasn't he needs sitting down and given a talking to.
I'd actually say, though, that even if the criticism is out of line, he should not be shouting expletives to the crowd who firstly help pay his wages and secondly contain impressionable youngsters who grow up thinking similar behaviour is acceptable.

Perhaps just me that thinks that's not acceptable.

Did anyone else notice Oneil giving any back? I'm not saying he didn't but I heard the idiot on the first or second row (burgundy top I think) giving him plenty of grief first half. He was poor but it was uncalled for and I never saw a reaction from him.

`Bunkum' is a word which adequately describes your opinion of most journalists CPS!
According to my dictionary it means `bombastic speechmaking intended for the newspapers rather than to persuade the audience'. It also means `humbug' or `claptrap'. However, in modern terminology, if something is described as `bunkum' it usually means it's rubbish - unfortunately the `beautiful game' seems to attract a lot of `bunkum', especially on forum message boards....

Just seen the goal highlights. Tommy must have been unsighted by 3 players trying to block the shot - he just stood there and it was only about a yard to his left. Some great moves by JayO. Evo lucky not to get a red.

O'Neill certainly shouted something at the crowd who were giving him serious grief. Absolute stupidity to barrack one of your own players, however poorly he's playing.
On the other hand he did have a shocker, and it amazed me that Crew didn't work on him a lot more, because he was beaten every time. It was about the only threat Crewe had.
Pretty fair performance, I thought, especially with a full back virtually out of the game. Herd gave signs he might grow into the vital bit of midfield, and Simmons certainly caused them problems and might well have scored. Only real criticism was the use of Mani as a target man - if everything is going long you might as well play Armand up there, who'll win a few headers at least.
Evatt was MoM - probably the bloke who's benefitted most from the new regime, a bit of a surprise at his age but he looks a lot fitter.

Similar to the way I saw it in respect of Herd, Simons and Mani. Herd will be a very good addition when fully fit and if he can stay fit. Showed up well for the first time yesterday but still needs more games. Simons has pace and is direct but faded after excellent start - plenty of raw talent to work on and was worth his start. I was crying out for Gnanduillet to replace Mani at 2 -1 because for all his hard work by then nothing was sticking or being won by Mani. However Gnanduillet did have me shaking my head deep into injury time when we broke and he had the chance to run it into the corner and he didn't.
A mention for Raglan - he knows how to defend and needs to be in a team which is so short of players that can do that side of the game.

Raglan needs game time. As much as I enjoy Hird if he's going to progress he needs to be playing first team football for us.
