Not a chance will you hear anything positive from him.

You'll probably not see him on here tonight now.

Thank the lord for that! Well we had to change something, though the worry is that it will only work against a dysfunctional outfit like Crewe, only time will tell; but for now it's a well done DS for at least trying something different from the shocking stuff we've been churning out lately.

All true.

But as it stands I can't help seeing today as fourteen down, around forty to go.

It's the only way to view it. I hope Saunders isn't daft enough to think he's cracked it now.

Which makes starting the season with a weaker team than last make even less sense. We could've been contenders for top 2.

Oooooh let me think, who was it who said that this league was there for the taking.... And, subsequently got laughed at by a fair few on this board... Hmmmmmmm

From what I've seen so far it's an ordinary league lacking quality.

No Bristol City this year.

And look where they are in the Championship

Lets hope that the Blackpool defeat was the lowest performance for a while

Rochdale on Tuesday will be interesting to say the least

As someone else said todays team could have been the JPT line-up last season

Credit where credit is due for Saunders. He gave the selection a shake up today, and it got us a result.

Yes credit where credits due, Saunders made some big decisions today and they paid off.
Would have been easy leaving SEB in the team but gave Mani a go and Rai sounded sharp.

Sounded like they put in the effort and enthusiasm that's been lacking .

Can someone clear up a debate as to whether Sam Morsy got a yellow card that would keep him out of Tuesday JPT?

How did raglan play? Was good to see the younger players getting starts scene as that's the model the club is aiming for
Here we go again!

Mani and Simons were a bit of a breath of fresh air today, although Simons didn't cause as many problems after taking a knock when he put Jay O through and seemed a bit wary the rest of the game. Like someone said I doubt they are the answer for the majority of the season but it certainly worked today.

Yep. Whether that was down to our qualities or Crewe's failings I dunnno; I'll wait with interest to hear the verdict of those there, especially those who went to Blackpool too.

The next two or three games will tell us whether the turner has been corner or not.

We looked more comfortable at the back than we have of late, but that's not difficult..again the opposition wasn't the best, but a win is a win..oh and I thought Herd started to get into the game more and started showing what a decent player he could be for us.

Agree that Herd looked useful. He clearly has to get fully match sharp but he looks to have good positional sense and an eye for a pass. What looked promising is that he started to link with Morsy which made him more effective. O'Neal struggled at right back. A Crewe supporter on the local radio reckoned they could have got more from the game had they exploited his lack of mobility more. At best he is a stand in and hopefully Drew finds some form. We looked stronger seeing the game out with Hird and Drew playing in midfield. Big difference with the Blackpool game was we were pressing more from the outset and from the whole team from front to back. O' Shea put a real shift in. Crewe only got back into the game when we eased off from the pressing game. Good to see us playing like that again

It's only taken Saunders about 8 ames to realise that his tactics weren't working with slow tempo, hoofball football and inept team selections. Crewe are a very poor side but that's not taking anything away from Town. At last DS saw sense and played Charlie alongside Evo, Hird was unlucky to miss out because O'Neil struggled all day at fullback and should have got a tackle in early for their goal. Some fans shouted at him after the goal to get stuck in and he responded by shouting back "shut the Fk up",obviously he doesn't like critisism. It was good to see Simons given a run, he looked dangerous running at them down the middle and had a hand in the first goal.A big boost for the team was playing the big man Manni who played his heart out and got no protection from the ref. It was a good hard working team performance, but still a long way to go.Herd had his best game so far.Well done Town I actually enjoyed the whole game today.

Didn't think it was a good game tbh, but I have to say every player worked really hard today to gain an ugly win! Don't be overwhelmed by this win as Crewe are a really poor team! DS has a lot of work to do and it's gonna be a long season!

Listened to the post match interview.

On Rai Simons 'He's scored 59 in 60. And the goals are the same size'

Only Town could offer Ron Manager a 2-year contract.

2014–2015 Ilkeston 31 (33)
2015– Chesterfield 2 (0)
National team‡
20??–20?? Bermuda U17 5 (9)
2013 English Colleges U17 1 (1)
201?–201? Bermuda U20 11 (17)
2013– Bermuda 9 (4)

What does that add up to? If accurate.

Superb!

Hint of Alan Partridge there too.

Has Simons got a foot like a traction engine?

O'Neill is shouting at the supporters to "shut the FK up" after criticism for making a mistake leading to a goal?? Was the criticism over the top or uncalled for?? Because if it wasn't, he needs pulling into line very quickly and reminding of his responsibilities as a professional footballer still finding his feet.
