New Section?

I've just been thinking, it's obvious some folk really don't like the Olympics so would it be a good idea to have a temporary section for those folk (like me) who like to discuss what's going on?

Then those who don't like it, don't have to be drawn in, they just ignore that particular section?

Well if people then come into that section moaning about how much the Olympics cost, policing of the events etc then the mods can delete their posts and those that want to discus events can without having to justify why they like sport.

Mods could do that anyway with any post

That's not the point I am trying to make though.

If there is a separate section then there is no need for those people who don't like it to be there, if it's left as it is, then like most threads on this message board, it will end up in bickering.

If people think its a bad idea, that's really fine by me, it was just a thought.

There should be sub-forum for non CFC related sport anyway.

Think it's an excellent idea!

Well as long as it's clear in the title of the topic that it's an olympic related thread... people can just not read it? It's a bit silly if you hate the olympics to click on, and then read something obviously related to it.

That's my train of thought.

Yeah. That way when someone poses a difficult question about the Olympics such as the cost, the shambles with Group 4, the overwhelming coverage on TV etc. Rather than having to phrase an eloquent and intelligent answer, supporters of the games can really on Mods to delete the post or simply post an abusive reply.

But don't you think there are already threads where people can vent their spleen about the Olympics?

I can see a few threads where this is possible. Why do you think people should hijack every Olympic thread? I would just like to be able to discuss the Olympics without having to defend my views every other post.

Mods/Denny,

Could we not get rid of the RTR Breakdown section on the top level and replace it with an Olympics 2012 section? Surely the forum gets nothing out of RTR Breakdown for having them here?

I thought the opening ceremony was stunning and very very different from all that have gone before.

As for sport, the Olympics is a bit special and I'll watch it all! The only bit that doesn't light my fire Is the mens football bizarrely

Need to chuck the cricket stuff in here too, quite a decent cricket following on here which is good.

Agree re the opening ceremony, it was absolutely brilliant. It cost less than Andy Carroll cost Liverpool. A bargain!
