Speaking generally, there should be legal repercussions for those who bring charges on flimsy evidence.

So, the people who brought charges on 'flimsy' evidence were the police. Of course, there are some people who don't think it was flimsy including the CPS, a jury, and a panel of Appeal Court judges.
