Passed away last night.
Helped save the club from extinction in 1983, writing out the cheque to the Inland Revenue for the monies owed to stave off a winding up order. He told me that he proudly kept a copy of that cheque as a memento.
RIP Mike.

Rest in peace Mike and thank you for what you did.

I remember those dark days, and have nothing but gratitude for his actions back then.

Sad to hear of mikes passing, very good amateur snooker player, and insrumental in getting the embassy world snooker championships to sheffield,i remember him getting john pullmans car registration plate,CUE 1.Condolences to mikes family.
I’ve been asked by a relative of Mike Watterson to provide some clarity, his wife went to a show at the crucible in 1977 it was her idea to host the snooker there, Mike ran with it and was the promoter. CUE 1 was on a brown Capri he bought off Joe Davis for £250, he later sold that to Stephen Hendry.
If you do what you always do, you'll get what you always get.
