Well said Tranmere Rovers Replays are a financial lifeline for smaller clubs and the decision, taken roughshod with no consultation stinks and the FA rolls over without so much as a whimper. More clubs are making statements.Town should join them.

Every club that participates in the early stages of the competition should refuse to take part next season.

Saw it mentioned today that i think it was 729 clubs played in the FA Cup this season....709 had no idea there was any vote to scrap replays etc.

Plenty of other clubs coming out with strong statements, lead by Tranmere and I presume Mark Palios again who is a proper football bloke seemingly.

I hope we are to follow, and I hope the club are willing to join other clubs taking a stand.

If you give the FA and PL an inch, they will soon take a mile.

The list is quite substantial, looks like there's growing calls on Social Media for us to put something out so hopefully we have something being prepared

I'm kind of in favour with the idea, but along the lines what they do/did in Germany.

On the day of the draw, lowest ranked team gets home advantage. Decided on the day. One shot at it.

There will be more giant killing, even Bayern Munich have been knocked out by village teams.

Problem with that theory being the small club never gets the chance to play at an Anfield, Old Trafford etc which is where they get the small clubs get their pay days alongside prize money for winning through rounds. An away game at a big prem club can be worth hundreds of thousands to small clubs.

Everybody will have their opinion, with valid points for and against. From our perspective though, in 1997, had we had just that one shot things may have been different.

That’s the problem though. Nobody has had a proper chance to express an opinion. The big clubs have just had their way.

I hope teams boycott

They won’t the prize money is too valuable.

I reckon the EFL management is only annoyed that they weren’t consulted when the final decision was made. They have been debating it openly and hoped to use it as a bargaining chip as part of a renegotiated deal for more trickle down payments from the Premiership.

Having said that it is nice to see the FA looking after the entire pyramid by brown nosing around the PFL.

There are 3 EFL board members on the FA board who agreed to the change, they can't say they weren't consulted when they're the ones who agreed to it!

Yes, a number of national press journalists are saying it’s been on the table since the end of the last year. Kieran Maguire mentioned the possibility in one of his Price of Football podcasts discussing the offer of more cash for EFL clubs.
He also mentioned the EFL Cup, the semi finalists earn little over £100,000, which doesn’t touch the side of the prize for winning one group game in the Champions League at €2.8M.
Expect another round of negotiations next year, PL clubs to not play in the EFL Cup, for a little more cash for lower league clubs.

[color=#070707][font=Graphik, Arial, sans-serif][size=4]So the greatest football competition in the world, the FA Cup, continues to be degraded so a few mega rich teams can make more money from playing in Europe. I've a better idea. Why don't these mega rich teams go and play in a European Super League and leave the rest of us to enjoy our rich footaball heritage.

I thought the mega rich clubs playing in Europe didn't enter the FA Cup until round 4. My bad.

As commentators have said, how come the Premier League clubs have persuaded the FA to scrap replays for rounds one and two when none of their clubs enter until the third?
and the ones in one of the 3 European competitions don't enter until round 4.

That's in the League Cup not the FA Cup, they all come in in 3rd round in the FA Cup.

Cheers.

At the time of writing, there have been statements from 4 x Premier League Clubs, 8 x Championship, 15 x League 1, 18 x League 2 and 7 x National League. I'm assuming we've been busy helping those clubs confirm their position before we confirm ours...
