Surely this can’t turn nasty??!

Recommendations for either online or retail record shops?

For me: Townsend, Rare Waves, Digin and my favourite for new unusual stuff Drift Records. All online. Drift have been amazing with suggestions and recommendations when you tell ‘em what you like. Fantastic customer service too. And when they couldn’t source what I wanted plied me with freebies!

Visit record fair in Town.

Sorry not a fan of Tall Bird. Always chilly. Which is strange because I’ve been buying a lot of vinyl!!!

I’ve been buying 7 inch , they do a seven sevens once a month in the pub, 7 DJs play seven 7 inch singles

70s and 80s cheap as chips

90s stuff expensive

Smiths are a fortune

I’m not fussed for the covers and not that fussed on condition as long as the play

I don’t have my own record player

The 'other' record shop in town is decent. I've only been to the one on Whitt Moor to give him a load of stuff I couldn't sell to see if he could make a few quid.

Otherwise my favourite is my own eBay shop 😉.

Great, thanks.

Could you bring to a game any purchases? No worries if no.

I usually use https://thesoundofvinyl.com/ for online purchases when I know what im after or in person VU records in Barnsley i'd highly recommend if you are willing to travel.

one i'd avoid like the plague is Cherry Red Records i've ordered from them 3 times and had 3 bad experiences.

VU do have a discogs if you want to browse through some of their collection. https://www.discogs....Records/profile

i've bookmarked Westbars' link as well in case anything crops up :D

Cassettes are in a massive boom at the moment I have no idea if it'll maintain long term though

In theory! I do have a couple of local buyers who call round and collect their purchases though I try and avoid it if I can as it's hassle I don't really need.

Strangely received a massively warped brand new record from Rough Trade today (their exclusive version of the new Coral release). Feared the worst when the postman handed it to me as it was clearly bowed!

What’s your way with that? I’ve a pile of dozens of severely warped records I’ve been putting aside as I’ve been going through new stock.

I should have to with a brand new record though.

I usually place the record between two heavy flat objects be it massive books or anything else flat enough and leave it a few days it's not perfect but it does a job

Have 2 items that are flat and heavy. I use 2 pieces of 1/2 glass with felt on one side I place the album between them and place in an oven at 50c for an hour remove them and place a heavy book on them and leave for 24 hours dead flat when finished. Getting dirt out of the grooves I use uPVC glue. Pour it all over the groove but not the centre let it set fully the peel it off. Pristine

I’ve got a couple of heavy big ceramic tiles left over from a room. When your oven is switched off after tea, and it’s under 100c, pop them in for 10 mins. Put a thick bedsheet under and over the record and then a tile under and over. Add books. Only if it’s really badly warped though!

Otherwise heavy objects do work.

I've never had much success doing that. On the plus side it plays reasonably well (some minor interference) and Rough Trade are sending me a replacement and don't want this back so it'll go on eBay.

It's an eBay business account so it's a requirement they claim.
