Jayo NEEDS to be starting from now on. Boco is average, Jayo is special.

is it the opposition easing off the gas after taking a lead of a goal or 3, allowing us to get into our stride?

Either that or we realise that we need to attack and play more fluidly. We are so rigid at the start of games, people aren't moving into space and we end up punting it up to Doyle who is up against two big cenna halves. Once we're a goal or two down we take more risks and generally do better for it.
Ps for the defending purists among you, do yourselves a favour and dont watch our 3rd conceded goal.

I'm not commenting on their third goal, 'cos it was along way off, but the other two were down to excellent attacking play more than our defensive frailty. We're learning the hard way that at this level people cross the ball to another player and not the hopeful punts into the middle we've got used to, and which we're still a bit prone to ourselves.
Their first goal was an excellent cross which Jones wouldn't have prevented. The second a cut-back after getting to the by-line, and straight into the path of a player running in - how often have we got in that position and delivered a non-ball.
Alright, Humphreys and Raglan struggled, but sometimes you just have to accept that other teams will play good football and open us up. This is a highly professional league, they aren't a bunch of duffers.
Considering how we've been hit by injuries in virtually every game we're playing incredibly well. This is not the time to pick faults with anybody, least of all in a makeshift defence.

Tommy has never been good at coming for crosses, but he was getting better with Crossley training him, since Nixon has been here Tommy's game has gone down hill. Is it time to get a better goalkeeping coach onboard before thinks get worse.

Even so, Chapman hardly took his chance well when he got the nod at Scunny. If he needs a run of games to get in the groove, there'll be a few at least at the start when he may well be just as shaky. Adding that to an already unfamiliar/error prone defence may just be a recipe for a further dent to confidence for everyone at the back, most of all the young keeper. Better to put him in for less important games and/or when the defence is more settled.

I'm pretty sure Jones wouldnt have let the cross for the first come in if he was playing. He is faster than Ritchie who gave his man yards of space and still conceded a cross after their lad dribbled a bit further. He backs off constantly due to his lack of pace and we suffer for it when he plays. He is not an option for us in this league if we want to keep our goals against tally down.
The second - yeah fair play it was good attacking. Thought Jimmy should have gone to ground and if he had he would've blocked the cross but that's nit picking. Need to stay tight on our men in the box and we failed to do so. Good movement by the opposition though.
For the third you didnt need to be close to it. We *completely* switched off for the short corner, simple ball in which we struggle with big time nowadays, they head it at Tommy and they also follow it up and score. Regardless of who is playing I would not expect something so amateurish.
Anyway, after one of the worst 35 or so minutes of us I've seen we started to play thanks to Armand and O'Shea (who should start every game moving forwards) and should've at least got a draw (although they hit the bar and had other chances too). When all is said and done they haven't won at home for ages and we have come there and lost which is disappointing for me personally. They were visibly wilting in front of our very eyes as soon as we put pressure on them and we've come home with nothing when we should have something.
Such is football I suppose.

Can't keep ignoring the cock ups every game just because it's Tommy. He's not stepped up to the league above like the others.

Was it pure coincidence that as soon as we had a pacey left back in Clucas their immediate threat was taken away.

They seemed to stop targeting our left when Clucas went there but I think it was mainly due to us being on the front foot, they didnt have as much of the ball.
