Absolute stormer of a game.. shows, given the amount of world class talent we have at our disposal, what an absolute insipid bore of a manager we have. Performances from teams way below us in the rankings showing how the game should be played!
Be honest tho, it's the only hope they've got, some of these teams are lucky to even qualify, and probs wouldn't under the old 32 team format, so they go out to try and win thus creating an open game. -

The ref may well have seen it though, and decided it wasn't a handball, and by any sensible criteria he'd be spot on. As you say, the laws of the game have now got to the stage of farce. When they're measuring in millimetres and millisecods, and trying to get even tighter than that with a snickometer, for heavens sake, it's time to pack up.
And surely it couldn't have been a 'clear and obvious error' when nobody watching or commentating had any idea what was going on.
But if the ref had seen it, he would have gone to the screen as he did, explained his reason for allowing the goal and let the goal stand, the refs decision is final, var is only there to assist.. so clearly he didn't see it, and agreed with the VAR -

So far the referring has been of a very high standard and thankfully when they?ve asked the question of technology it?s been done swiftly
However the Belgium team will be complete peed off with that handball decision
First one he?s definitely offside but the second is completely debatable
Would another ref have given it? Possibly
Again no matter how much technology they use ultimately it still comes down to a humans decision
And some other humans would have given a different outcome
I doubt they would.. afaik the rules now state any handball in the build up to scoring a goal is deemed an offence, so by the letter of the now, it's ruled out... hence VAR calling the ref to the screen.
