I would suggest the blocks are there just to stop the plastic membrane from being blown away before the concrete is poured in.

dont think its either of them ideas guys ..you dont lay blocks on to soil and not in that way lol
if you look closely they have some anti weed material then some visqeen ...then looks like they have laid flat some kinda drainage blocks ..wierd i know but might have a look later lol thought at some point it could have been a temp drainage pit lol....i think its just part of the landscaping either for top soil ect

The last Stadium update came from the project manager about a fortnight ago. I doubt whether anything much has changed since then!

If that were true then they're building the stand in the wrong place! You can quite clearly see where the stands and the pitch are going to be. The building manager has also stated that the main stand will be the first one to start going up, so we should also see excavations to the right side of the picture, surely? The area with the blocks is most likely to be parking space. As somebody has already mentioned, it's likely to be drainage or something to do with landscaping. Just a guess though.

It appears to be a soakaway for the car park using a product like Geolight.

I think its the same stuff that was used on the Tesco site, to help with drainage etc.... If not then, god, knows, could be a secret underground dungeon to lock all the players in who won't go out on loan
