The date of the AGM might be an indicator.
Carson presumably has some freedom on it and could bring forrad/postpone it to suit. When was it last year?

Monday 14th January this year

More chance of seeing the Brexit fiasco over than a good CFC takeover!

If we've got them both sorted by Christmas I might start believing there is a Santa Claus after all.

Let's have a vote. Current regime. Leave or Remain?

In this case I'd even be prepared to Leave without a deal.
These go to eleven.

On this subject is parliament the only place where if you abstain from voting it counts. If I don't vote in an election, for instance, my abstension doesn't count and the result is decided by a majority from those that have voted. In parliament the "can't make it's mind up" Party doesn't vote but by not voting they defeat the substantial majority from those that did vote - you couldn't make it up but they have????

Or it might be argued the thousands abstaining their attendance - or perhaps proroguing the Proact - are voting themselves...

Funny enough, Chris me old, I thought you might be the first in on a reply to that one. But, the "thousands" proroguing the Proact don't actually stop football being played or decisions being taken there.

If you don't vote in the coming election Jeremy's lot gets one less vote and if t'other lot win by one vote they can't turn round and say "hang on, Chris didn't vote so add that in to the equation and it's a draw" can they?

But, they are doing that in Parliament and it frustrates the hell out of me when certain politicians who have opposed EEC membership throughout their political careers prefer to abstain from voting even though we had a democratic referendum which resulted in supporting their own personal preference.

Back, to the Proact, now Chris - do you think there's any chance of you getting a half-season ticket in your Christmas stocking?

It was a tongue-in-cheek response to a pretty convoluted comparison, Dave.

And perhaps politics are best confined to the 'Personal' section.

Do you honestly think the stayaway "thousands" (?) have had no effect, though?

Dave Allen would apparently disagree given he linked sellings and sackings to what's happened in the stands.

Or not, if y'see what I mean.

As for any 'return to the Proact' - or return to the topic's title, perhaps - a trustworthy takeover would see me booking hospitality for the very next game. It'd see me turning towards Whit Moor instead of town centre pubs again. It'd see me buying snap and ale and all the other bits and bobs available at games again.

It'd see me giving a flying fornication who we were actually playing from one week to the next again.

One caveat, mind.

The takeover would have to be a total one.

Because there's no way in hell I'll sit in a stand with the same cronies, lackeys and parasites who'll continue to keep myself and many others away until the great day dawns...

Chris, I agree and I agree.

Let's just say politicians and brexit are frustrating me and when suggestions of getting both a takeover and brexit done over the line together came up I couldn't help a bit of mischief.

Anyway, let's hope Santa delivers and we can look forward to a new year for our club. Don't really know why but I am strangely optimistic.

Talking of abstentions our blessed MP has abstained totally from backing the majority of his constituents who voted in the Brexit referendum. Towed the party line instead of sticking his neck out and has been nondescript in supporting this club when we needed his help most. No matter what side you are on politically. Has he backed Chesterfield or just himself? Does he deserve the people of Chesterfields backing?

I don't know. I'd be lying if I claimed to have thought it through to that degree (much like the politicians).

To be fair, I can’t stand the guy but all credit to him still being that involved...

I could say why he might want to be there but I won’t....

At a tangent, I'm seeing buses - or I guess that might be bus singular just in different places - advertising 'Christmas at Owlerton'.

That made me wonder; where are the 'Chtistmas at the Proact' adverts?

Perhaps Carson's claim it's already fully booked are accurate and there's just no need, I dunno.

But if so you'd think they'd want the bloke responsible to do summat sumilar in Sheffield instead of dispensing with his services...

Hold on, the chairman being seen at one of his successful business concerns at 0100. How does that relate to us being knocked out of the FA Cup 3 hours earlier?

I'm not sure many chairmen spend 24/7 at their clubs, or go to all the away games, ridiculous comment.

Oh wow. Dave Allen spotted working at one of his businesses. How could he do such a thing?
