I think MA means swap some rubbish players for some rubbish players.

Maybe you could ask AC what the playing budget is and what percentage of that is taken up by the players who are currently loaned out. It would also be nice to know how much we’ve spent paying contracts up. He has given this kind of detail in the past, in fact the sum of £150K for paying contracts up was published a while back.
We could then make out own minds about how much backing MA has received.

Likewise he has no need to go out of his way to stress how good they've been. Silence on the subject would be just as telling as outright criticism.
It's the same message he was giving out at the start of the season, and it's the same story told by Jack Lester and Gary Coldwell.
There comes a time when you have to drop the cynicism and accept that what these people are saying is what they believe. Otherwise you might as well come straight out and call them liars.

You replace other people's deadwood with your own deadwood and achieve a paltry record in the lowest league we've ever been in.
The owner says "he's my man" and AC feels put out as he quite liked being Smithers to DA's Monty Burns.
The owner says he doesn't do failure but seemingly allows others to fail in his club.
The owner stays away from the club, meaning zero interference for MA. AC's daily chats fill in the blanks for the absentee owner.
Results are shocking but when you're the owner's choice, you are teflon-coated. You're paid a good salary, compared with L1 and L2 managers.
If you transplant your name and current job situation into this description, who wouldn't think their boss is great?

Let's not kid ourselves, Dave Allen has been severely let down by all the Managers employed by this club since Cooke.

Who appointed them. Who took a manager on because he did a dinner speech he liked. I know who I blame

Me too. For the off pitch shenanigans Dave Allen and his cohorts. For the on pitch fiasco week after week I'll continue to blame the Managers and the team of hangers on and chancers they bring with them. Regardless of the reasons for their employment they were all supposed football managers. Unfortunately it appears when the chips are down none were capable of actually doing the job they were paid handsomely for.

can't really argue with that. martin allen's failure is perhaps the most baffling, experienced manager who has done well in his managerial career and done well on limited resources yet it has gone horribly wrong here, his recruitment looks to have been poor, we are still unbalanced as a squad, we are neither a strong attacking team nor hard to beat it seems, we can not retain the ball nor win it back, in short we have no identity, no one, the manager included can name our best 11 because it is simply not possible to name a good enough 11 from this squad.
he expected to win this league = either confident or arrogant and naiive, at least sir jack was realistic to say it would take 4 windows to get the squad right.

A massive oversimplification.
Saunders was appointed on the basis of a couple of hours patter. Who said so? Allen himself. And that was in the face of two relegations which were about to become three. A Crawley side who'd just been one of the worst to ever visit the Proact - the polar opposite of Cook's Accrington.
Caldwell - who must surely have been endorsed by the bloke who endorsed the bloke hiring him (if that doesn't sound like some half-assed Country & Western number) had enjoyed success with a Championship budget in L1. However he was being asked to deliver success on a shrinking budget at an already struggling club. And whilst still off-loading players.
Sure managers are responsible for on-field events. But equally surely their hiring must be based upon logic and reason.
PS: Wilson did better than we could've hoped for but was undermined whilst Lester was a PR stunt.

I am sure he thinks the bosses are being great. Not accusing him of lying. If I was able to fail spectacularly, get extra budget and still seemingly continue to fail with no repercussions, I might think my boss was brilliant. Wouldn't you?
