Yes, he worked the turnstiles at Saltergate for many years. He got me and his lad a job there to. -

Started work in July 1979 aged 16 for Derby City Council.
A chap who worked on the gate at Main Stand, Ken Hemsley, worked at the Highways Depot, and soon encouraged me to come up on the train and see Arthur's team. Which i duly did a few weeks later on 28th August 1979.!!!!!!

A 2-1 win in the League Cup Round 2 over Shrewsbury. The result and performance were irrelevant. It was the "earthiness" of the stadium and the fans, and the floodlights. I was hooked.
Last I heard was that Ken still attends, in his eighties, and sits in the East Stand.
Sorry to tell you that Ken died over 2 years ago. Stood with him at Saltergate and sat with him at the Proact for many years.
