Well the country needs immigrants to provide the labour needed in various industries. It could maybe ship out all those that dont like it to go somewhere more white at the same time, make the country a better place all round..?

Its generic across the UK in many industries. You are an academic, study the literature.

I have never watched Ricky Gervais or his programs. This is a serious subject. But whilst it is often men first, just like in our own culture years ago (my uncle went to Canada before his family followed) there are families. But its expensive to get here and dangerous. Most family men will take the risk alone and then send for their families later. Or young men want to start a new life and come alone...

I cant comment on people I dont know. I have a good friend who works for one of the organisations that organise the accomm for the asylum seekers, not with us. He is of muslim descent. He has some comments about some but spends more time with them than either of us do. I'll take his view over yours, if you dont mind.

I am sure many of the Irish justify their view to themselves as economic or cultural. Is that the true reason for their views? No one really can opine other than the individual and they probably wont...

Ian's friend grew up in Shepherds Bush / Brentford way, and is half Irish and half Indian. His comments was ignorant, he is far from it, but it was a reflection of the difference between the area he lived in and the area of North East Derbyshire I came from. He was right.

Maybe because Australia have a much more stringent approach to immigration, so maybe not the best example to quote?
