According to the Daily Mirror

The FA Cup faces a big shake-up from the 2024/25 season, with the FA planning to sell TV rights to the Premier League

- Replays will be scrapped
- Early rounds will be played midweek
- The final will be played on a Premier League weekend

Welcome changes, or the big clubs win agin?
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

Just shows how the PL has taken over as the showpiece silverware of the season, with the FA taking a backward step.

I posted about this last year. It's been in the planning since that time. The FA Cup is the biggest and most famous domestic cup competition in the world. They could make it even better and strengthen its status by increasing the prize money and awarding a European place. Instead, it seems, they intend to diminish the competition even further. It will be tragedy. The FA Cup is Saturday tradition as is the final that should be played at Wembley. The fact that it gets in the way of Premiership mammon is the real reason for its trashing.

Devaluing the oldest football cup competition again. Disappointing.

I think the model from Germany should be followed where the lowest ranked team on the day of the draw gets home advantage. Bayern Munich have been knocked out by village teams previously.

Allocating the 4th champions league spot to the FA Cup should certainly be considered.

Appalling news; simply another step towards making the whole game a closed shop for those with massive financial resources. It's an obvious, and probably unstoppable progression towards the U.S. model where there is no jeopardy for those that already have the greatest monetary power.

I agree. What has 4th place in the league won? But they’ll never agree to it.

The German financial model is totally different as well, meaning over here, can we afford to take away our trip to Stamford Bridge and the financial rewards that came with it? let alone depriving our fans of the experience of going there.... Id hate that model knowing we'd never get the opportunity to visit Old Trafford, Anfield, Stamford Bridge, The Emirates etc etc.
