Impatient boy racers don't you love em. Life must be so bad if you need to get somewhere a minute or two earlier.

Nothing to do with getting there quicker, it's about rules suitable to the circumstances. But yes, busy life and I don't want to be stuck behind dawdlers who barely leave the village and can't make progress...

Exactly, it's not about being a minute earlier it's about ego or getting another delivery in, be it parcel or drugs.
Why are these cars with look at me (well, listen to me) pop pop or bang bang exhausts allowed, totally pointless, cause frustration and may cause devastating shock to other road users/pedestrians.
If your exhaust made such noises in the 70s you'd spend time with exhaust tape and filler trying to avoid a fine for creating unnecessary noise.

It might be to do with breathing to maximise airflow and efficiency?

There are much worse crimes like not keeping left on a motorway, not making suitable progress and being overly cautious....

My car is silent by the way!

How can igniting unburnt fuel in the exhaust be more efficient? I suppose some like replacing Thier exhausts far more often.

I am no mechanic but noisier cars tend to be the more powerful ones so maybe the two are linked..?

Well except the electric ones....

The 40 signs on the road were still there yesterday afternoon. If anyone is pulled for speeding at 40 they would get away with it.

Not if there is a Temporary Traffic Order in place which there is.

Expensive sports cars have exhausts that are designed to make the noise not the engine. Boy racers type people alter the timing of the engine so the fuel ignites when the exhaust valves are slightly open causing the fuel to ignite in the exhaust it's self

There are now loads, there wasn’t initially, of signs at the side of the road saying 30, temp speed limit etc so presumably they take priority over the ones that are on the road and now incorrect.

On little pimped up Corsas and alike it’s just showing off but on sports cars it’s all to do with efficient performance, getting the exhaust gases flowing best out of the engine for its best efficiency and performance.

Yes maybe so. But when on Whit Moor and passing cars having bombed down the by-pass decide to give some rendition John Bonham couldn't match I'll consider that. And then go to the Tup or Beer Parlour and get my exhaust gasses flowing.

Exactly that, I am sure some of the mechanically minded on here understand that more power needs more fuel and air in, and more in means more exhaust out, and the silencer part restricts the ability to do that.

There are rules around noise limits - even if you do a track day - so what you hear on the road should be legal.

Mind some old facts whinge when you overtake them, even if it's not affecting them at all. Some drivers are strange.

You're barred from Calow. I'm on the phone to the vigilantes now. 😁
