With what might be our only overseas friendly arranged I am looking back to 1951 when we played two post season games against foreign teams.

One was from Belgium, from which other European country did the other side hail?

Bonus what did they give the Club rather than the traditional pennant or plate?

Think he was released by Villa and was jobless so tried with us but decided against him he had a heart condition,he won cup in 1982,died of a heart attack in 93 at age 56...

Just checked and according to the records it was. We beat them 3-0 as part of The Festival Of Britain Friendlies. Goals scored by Hudson, Marrron and Costello.

No idea what they gave us for the bonus part though.

It was the team he inherited from Saunders that he won it with though.

Took over after Saunders resigned in February 82, and won The European Cup a few months later.

Yes at that point it had its own currency, government and status as a nation under the Treaty of Rome albeit under French control. It entered the World Cup and Olympics independently.

But what memento did the team leave at Saltergate?
