I?m perhaps on my own but I?m not sure Freckleton is the answer to anything.

I?ve seen nothing to suggest he could strengthen the CB position, and it?s most definitely a position that needs improving not padding out with numbers.

And the suggestion he can fill in at LB is worrying, IMO. He?s not a LB in a million years and to have him covering there at all would see us vulnerable.

I?ve got nothing against the lad but I don?t feel he?s the answer.

We've got rid of a full back from each side of the field a seldom used centre back in Maguire and Freckleton has gone back to Bramall Lane. If we're going to fill the gaps at the back surely we're going to have to either, get rid of one of the right sided centre backs, find someone who can play in several positions or rely on bringing younger players on. Freckleton, we know, has a lot to learn but the lad can play a bit, plus he has pace, so for me, whether he comes back o loan or as our player, he's worth a punt for me.

Would not count as one of our 22 squad as he's under 21 if I'm correct ? So worth a punt for sure

Its a pity Freckleton did his hamstring at Watford, because I thought his performance that day playing CH was superb and against their pacy forwards he made tackles that I don't think Grimes could have done. If he'd managed to play a few more games afterwards at CH to demonstrate his natural game, i'd imagine we'd all be hoping we could sign him. Defintely not a LB, but CH yes.

Centre backs who try to play full back tend to gravitate to their natural position, which,if they're not used to playing as a full back is natural. Some take to it like a duck to water, our own Albert Phelan is one who springs to mind, along with Mark Lawernson, oh and Sam Hird made a decent job of it.
I'd love to think we could get Freckleton back, one way or another. Along with Tyrer he bought into Chesterfield FC, and that must be a good thing.
