No one commented, because it's what they've come to expect from the officials in this league.

It’s not been commented on much on here, but I believe the pre season directive to referees (see below) leaves too much at the discretion of referees, and has caused more inconsistencies than ever.

“Leniency on "physical" challenges
On the pitch, as an attempt to allow the game to flow better and reduce stoppages, a higher threshold will be applied to "contact" between players - meaning there should be fewer free-kicks awarded for incidents which last season might well have been penalised for being overly physical.
However, as per the existing referee guidelines, any challenge deemed "careless" will be deemed a foul, any which are "reckless" will receive a yellow card, and any player who "endangers the safety" of an opponent will be sent off.”

It seems flattening players, shoving them in the back, pulling a player back by his shirt is below the threshold, especially (so it seems) when it’s on our players.

Southend and Altrincham didn’t read that script.
God I hate this league.

It’s a foul, he gets nowhere near the ball and just flattens Williams. Had an outfield player done it anywhere else on the pitch the ref gives a foul without thinking. Had it been the other way round the ref gives a foul against Williams without a second thought.

Certainly looked a penalty, but to play devils advocate there was an instance in the first half when Williams was hauling a Southend player back in the area with the shirt pulled at full stretch when a few of us in the East Stand remarked how that was a nailed on penalty for them.
East stand second class citizen.

You seem to have summed that up pretty well, I must say that I am sick and tired of watching the amount of times two arms are slammed into the backs of our players, which up to now we have been lucky enough to not cause injuries, and it is deemed fair play.We do seem to get a lot of the opposite though, good tackles which seem to leave the opposition looking like they have run into a group of Vikings having a bad day.

I’ve never seen a town team do so many step over of the ball allowing it to run on through Grigg’s legs. The ploy completely throws the defence and invariably it’s a run in at goal.

The Dobra goal was sensationable.
God I hate this league.
