They were having problems before he left.

'Williams has bemoaned his side's defensive performances already this season, with Magpies captain Kyle Cameron saying he has been "embarrassed" by their efforts.

The Magpies remain the joint top scorers in the league with 43 goals in 21 games, but only three sides have conceded more than them in the fourth division.

"If we are not going to be great defensively, and then we are not going to outscore the opposition, then I'm not sure what we are going to do," Williams said.'

But they were still 5th when he left. They then won just one of their next 11 games, drawing three.

I was suggesting that it is quite easy to fall foul of the SCMP rules (especially when the club changes leagues) not that the Kirks weren?t up to the task. Hopefully they have the nouse to avoid the pitfalls of over estimating. They seemed supremely confident that they would be comfortably inside the 50% of income and as you suggested if they have as much cash and commitment as it appears, they could inject more capital if need be.

I wonder if you have cast your eyes over the SCMP rules? Even though there is a lot of detail it strikes me that there is a lot of assumptions to be made for the current reporting year and its vague how previous reporting years are used to form part of the calculation. Probably the major reason why the league descended on the club a few weeks ago.

I have, posted a lot about them when we?re last in the leagues. All very vague.
Another way of looking at it- just how many clubs have been penalised for breaking SCMP rules? I can find very little on the subject, and in any event the only penalty appears to be restricting new registrations.

This site was useful when I was researching it before. Not sure if it’s bang up to date though.

Considering my point was around defensive recruitments that's what I mean by 'found out'. Conceded 86 which is the highest in league 2 and only Rotherham and Sheff United have conceded more in the top 4 leagues.

Scary thing is they also played in a tighter back 3/5 than our back 4.

They went downhill after the departure of Luke Williams. Sat 5th when he left.

With jordon pickford set to leave everton,it would seem unlikely that tyrer would be back with us next season.

Is he set to leave though?
One of Everton’s fanzine site says ‘ It feels much more likely that one of Jarrad Branthwaite, Amadou Onana or Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be sold this summer than the England number one.’

Actually we can get it wrong and if we do we’ll get sanctioned. Hopefully we understand all the rules and more importantly how they are interpreted.

In view of the fact that our de facto owner is a qualified chartered accountant, and that the rules aren’t difficult to interpret, I’m sure we will fully understand the SCMP rules. In any event, while ever the Kirks are willing to convert loans to share capital there will be no issue.

Stockport lost £4.5M in 22/23, covered by £6M of new share capital.
