The only silver lining to this (and it is a very thin lining) is it may give supporters of lower league teams the chance to 'chalk off' grounds they wouldn't normally have got to see their team play at.

Had it been in previous season, it may have lead to more Premier League youngsters dropping down the leagues on loan as you would get to see them in action gains the correct level opposition, but then given short term "emergency" loans are scrapped for next season, even that benefit is lost.

Sadly as far as I'm concerned the only benefit to be derived from this will be gained by the Premier League clubs.

I really hope this initiative totally backfires on all of the league one and two clubs and fans 'en bloc' boycott every game next season.

I also sincerely hope whoever comes in to sponsor this competition sees it as a total failure and pulls their sponsorship deal.

Only worked on my mobile rather than the desktop site.

A very odd piece - Chesterfield FC releasing a article that paints their own CEO as a spineless buffoon.

He will surely be anxious to explain why he changed his mind.

Putting myself in his shoes, I can perhaps understand a situation where he's been swayed. An initial 'no' based mainly on a worry about precedence, but a change of mind after hearing about the Wonga, and a cast iron guarantee that it's a trial followed by another vote.

All about money of course. I think out of the billions the premiership receive a £1m donation is an absolute insult to change everything to suit themselves.
This competition must be totally boycotted by all L1 + L2 fans.

Didn't agree with it initially until he could see support from other clubs so he went along with, what a toe-rag our CEO is

You're expecting Man City to get relegated twice in quick succession then?

It's a trial all right, but little to do with the competition in question as there are too few games for the prem youngsters to develop. It's paving the way for B teams in a new league structure despite the denials to the contrary.

Desperation for an influx in cash to bolster the accounts to disguise his shortcomings appears to me to be his shortsighted motive.

"Now that the decision has been made, we all have to get behind the new format and try to make it a success.”

Hope Turner isn't including me in that statement

Likely only one a season (the same one every season?) as we fail to progress from the group. If that - didn't the 'rules' say the Prem side one only get 1 home game - that means only 1 of the 3 other group teams will get there anyway.

Attendances have just dropped by another one.

CHRIS TURNER. SELLING OUT CFC FOR THE PREMIER LEAGUE POUND.

If the extra £1,000,000 is split evenly between the League 1 & League 2 teams it works out at less than £21,000 each, is it worth selling your sole for such a pittance, I don't believe it is. This appears to be a precursor to allowing the Premier League U21's into the football league.

just read the turner article on main page, the rationale that "this will create greater interest in the competition as attendances were falling" is rubbish, now had the authorities consulted fans of clubs and said "do you think brining premier league under 21 teams into the competition will increase interest?" i think i know what the answer would have been, has such a consultation taken place? i think not, so that rationale can not be used as the reason for this move.

As they say on Dragon's Den...I'm out.

Reading a few interesting comments on social media from non CFC fans, none of them complementary.

It appears the 7th honourable club was Bristol Rovers.

If you think I'm going to trawl the country on a miserable midweek night to stand with a couple dozen supporters and a dog you can think again
God I hate this league.
