Still no explanation on how this will not devalue any remaining credibility the competition has, let alone rejuvenate it. If you can't get people through the door for a one of cup game how is a turgid group stage going to help. The group stage in this competition has been abandoned previously to universal approval, albeit without a meaningless U21 game chucked in.

Dissappointing that less than 5000 have signed it

That doesn't make it right clubs struggling for money and the league wasting X amount of thousands on a jolly up

Agree, all football league clubs ought to be allowed to submit tenders for holding the event, with a decision based on cost to clubs factoring in the logistics of attending.

Perhaps it's not been well publicised yet?

Actually the JPT attendances aren't in decline as Turner states, remaining fairly constant over recent years and much improved since the inauguration of the competition

The main factor influencing the stats appears to be the gate of the final, which of course depends on the size of the teams who get there e.g 2009/10 73,476 Carlisle v Southampton

The stats being as follows;

Year average aggregate

2015/16 4,363 213,815
2014/15 4,501 220,596
2013/14 4,201 205,893
2012/13 4,779 234,181
2011/12 4,505 201,147
2010/11 4,132 207,395
2009/10 6,295 308,485
2008/09 4,302 210,834
2007/08 4,898 240,007
2006/07 4,307 211,647
2005/06 2,900 176,947
2004/05 3,237 197,518
2003/04 4,031 245,894
2002/03 3,084 188,132
2001/02 3,324 190,346

You can use those stats either way. It more valid to say that attendances are pretty static but are generally around 50% higher than 15 years ago.

As they say on Dragon's Den...I'm out.

Reading a few interesting comments on social media from non CFC fans, none of them complementary.

Some of the comments from fans of other teams are telling. Perhaps they're to blame too!

Exactly, bigger clubs will slew the overall attendances on a yearly basis. No real pattern, more lies from our CEO

I spotted this the other day and noticed it'd gone under the radar somewhat. AFC moved in, then took over before eventually flogging it to move on leaving the original owners homeless but they're going to make a donation to them to find a new home...big of them!

Possibly you should give this a read before judging Wimbledon too harshly.

Kingstonian were screwed by their previous owners, and the donation is about 1 million quid. And that's completely voluntary.

He was just repeating the propaganda put out by EFL. It's another illustration of the contempt the football authorities have for fans. They can't be bothered to even think up a plausible excuse. Money grubbing scum the lot of 'em

Petition signed. I certainly won't be forking out my cash to watch us play an U21 team.

You're expecting Man City to get relegated twice in quick succession then?

Sorry spammy my bad. How about a final with man city u21 v Everton u21? What attendance are you predicting for that one?

its always a Northern 'winner' versus a Southern 'winner' in the final.

10/10 on the childish name-calling though.

It seems from the clubs fixtures released next week story that they've forgotten about the new format as they are quoting week commencing 29 August the round one date as though the format's the same as previous seasons
