  1. Maidenhead Thread

well here we go last day of the season, and more to the point our last ever game in non league, "sun is shinning in the sky, there ain't a cloud in sight". League wrapped up weeks ago, club on the up, packed stadium, to all fellow spireites take it in, enjoy the day, the whole weekend is a celebration of what this club has achieved. Be lovely to end with 3 points too.
  2. Strengthening

    13 April 2024 - 10:22 PM

i am aware this has been discussed on multiple threads but not sure if it has yet been given a focus of it's own.

as we go up a league we will be looking to strengthen next season. i think there is consensus that the defensive side of the team needs addressing and a younger jones clone being perhaps the number 1 target?

where else? grigg has been outstanding, i love quigs but there is a big drop off between the 2, similarly colclough is a big player for us and we are better when he plays but he has only really played half the season, i like berry but he is not for me yet on that same level.

watched the leeds/blackburn game earlier today and if the rumours of macfazdean are more than rumours, i will be pleased to see him here, in the 45 he played, he organised the team, was strong, read it well and has a surprising turn of speed for a player of his vintage.
  3. Millers Down

just seen that rotherham have dropped tonight, so back to one league between us, hadn't realised that Leam Richardson was there, could be an interesting pre-season fixture perhaps?
  4. Title Decider

    02 March 2024 - 11:39 PM

(tongue fully in cheek here) i see that Tuesday night brings together oldham v bromley in what must we assume be the title decider given their collective celebration against us this season, at the same time barnet take on rochdale, worst case scenario we end that night not playing but leading the pack by 17 points with a game in hand. we then hit saturday without teams 2 and 3 playing, so key that we don't lose that one and give anyone any encouragement. best case scenario for tuesday is that the lancasterians both step up and put the 2 B's in their place and we go on to win against fylde.
  5. The Ups And Downs Of Football

    02 March 2024 - 04:01 PM

firstly, we are top of the league with a great team and great manager.

walked away from watching the game on Tuesday evening thinking what a professional performance we'd put in and came away deserved winners, we played like champions on Tuesday. Today i tuned into TNT (have we won on TNT this season btw?) and within minutes it was clear we were struggling to play on the rubber/plastic/fake whatever pitch... coupled with that several players took liberties and got caught in possession or failed to do basics like run and close down, in short we played poorly, naiively and unprofessionally. (I won't bang the Mike Jones drum again)

anyway, we have 3 out of next 4 games at home and whilst we've come off the pace in the last 2 home games, let's hope we can finish this season off in style.
