Paul & Kimberley from The Barrel Inn Blues Travel informed me earlier in the season that they felt it was time to let another group or individuals sponsor Bobs Board
So a big thankyou to them for what they have done for several years in sponsoring this nonsense through the good times and bad since Bob's passing
So whats next?
The CFSS itself no longer actually exists and the board is a bit of a legacy as it creaks, groans and error codes as it post messages and Spireite thoughts

I've personally been involved in this since is inception and feel perhaps the times may also be right time to hand over the keys so to speak to the next generation of Board users

The board was a originally a board for fans managed by fans so ultimately its down to the users to decide if theres still a future for it beyond the end of May when the current hosting deals expires

Not volunteering or owt, in my humble opinion this form of social media is well past its time, the technology is dated and so is the format.

I would just like to say a big thank you to yourself, Webby for sticking with it for such a long time, you have been outstanding mate doing an unenviable job. Knowing BC, I doubt he ever imagined it would last this long.

I'm sure some will battle hard to keep it going, particularly the "Personnel Section" but I, hand on heart think its had its day.

Personally if it carries on, and I hope it does, I’d get rid of the personal section.

My tech abilities are rubbish tbh but would happily contribute, alongside others to the cost, if it’s reasonable.

How much does it cost to be “hosted”?

I agree. Most, if not all, of this is tailor made for Facebook. There are already 3 existing groups for us to join.

Although the Fan and the Fans groups might be one and the same.

I'm not sure it is past its sell by date, still lots of forums relating to football clubs around the country going very well and this one is likely no different. If it was me, and its very unlikely it will be me, this board still has some life in it but i'd think twice about the Personnel section about whether its needed and if it does carry on what can be in there.

Nope, i'm on Facebook but its terrible for stuff like discussing things like happens on here. Facebook get involved showing what they think you want to see etc, gets hard to follow once it goes past a few posts, riddled with bots etc.

The proboards link Hilly mentions is one i found a while back when it was discussed about moving and the Free one would be adequate for whats needed, if you can get a sponsor then great you can have the paid option for a few more features.

Like I said, Jon. Its just my opinion.

I will happily contribute to any crowd funding request for costs.

This forum is very active and would be a massive shame to see it die.

I personally am not on Facebook, which I consider to be an awful platform with an awful ethos, and I am sure there are others who would be in the same position as me.

I’d personally like the board to carry on, I would be happy to donate a bit of money towards hosting. Been a viewer and poster on this board since the days of Richardson, if it were to close it would be a great shame.

It would be a real shame if there was no forum. Facebook is hideous for stuff like this. I'm sure a fan set one up a while back, perhaps a proboard. I'll see if I can dig it out.

I do use Facebook, when I have to (for certain other interests), but I really don't want BB to move there. Also happy to contribute to costs for hosting 😊

if there is a chance for a free forum to be set up that needs to be explored.

Hi Rich hope all is well.

I'm not surprised the sponsorship is not being renewed. This place hasn't covered itself in glory recently. Having said that, I think it's a necessary alternative to mainstream social media and should be retained in some form. It's long overdue for an overhaul.

ProBoards offers a free option, suspect there will be some ads etc but it could be better than nothing.

I like it here, there would be no moderation on Facebook and it could/would soon turn unpleasant. Crowdfunding might be the way to go to keep BB going..

Hope to carries on and happy to contribute to any crowdfunding

Needs more Mods and a better board though as this one has so many things broken.

Facebook groups are a joke, they make us lot look like a bunch of quantum physicists. I left them all and this and the FootballForums one with fans of all clubs are the two main ones I use
