With jordon pickford set to leave everton,it would seem unlikely that tyrer would be back with us next season.

Ryan Boot is an accomplished goalie at this level, so if it does transpires that Tyrer doesn't come for whatever reason, I'm sure we'll end up with a decent understudy. If Pickford leaves, it doesn't mean Harry Tyrer gets the number one jersey at Everton and nor does it mean he'll be on the bench. He has much to learn yet.

Is he set to leave though?
One of Everton’s fanzine site says ‘ It feels much more likely that one of Jarrad Branthwaite, Amadou Onana or Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be sold this summer than the England number one.’

Dont think there is anything as yet to say Pickford is leaving, yes they will need to sell one maybe two for FFP but i'm not sure Pickford will be one of them. The sort of money it will take for him to leave limits it to one of a few clubs and most of them are well set with keepers already. One of the names mentioned above seems more likely to go especially Branthwaite.

Also the fact even if Pickford does go there are still a number of keepers at Everton so is he that likely to all of a sudden be part of a Premier League matchday squad. They have a Portuguese bloke who is current number 2 and a couple of other young lads plus i suspect the chance to go out and sign a keeper should they need to.

So you think Tyrer is the back up choice if Pickford leaves . I like Tyrer but don't believe he's that high up the pecking order ?

Tyrer needs Championship game time on loan at a club bigger than ourselves, a club along the size of Preston or Stoke. If he performs well then I can see Everton giving him a chance.

He?s nowhere near good enough, his ball distribution especially is not close to being good enough for the premier/championship.

cook so far seems to be setting his squad early, although Webb said signings may come later in the window but will we hang around to see what the everton summer reveals? or will we set our sights on other targets? either way, i'm happy enough with boot taking the gloves as no.1.

I think Boot is here as the second string keeper, ie if Tyrer doesn't return on loan we?ll bring in another No1

You think 29 years old Ryan Boot has extended his time here on the understanding he's hardly likely to play.
I don't.

I always suspected that getting Boot to sign was on the understanding that Tyrer was only here for a season, and Boot would then get the number one shirt.

Tyrer is what he is.
A young up and coming keeper who isn't ready for the top flight but is a very good lower league keeper atm.
Time for improvement by moving up the leagues either with us or at a push L1.
His days playing NLN & NL are completed so a season in L2 would be a natural move unless Everton want to skip a league and drop him in L1

He signed a one year contract last year knowing just that.

Could become the cup competition keeper.
Could be he thinks he can genuinely push for a starting spot
Could be, at 29, he's thinking of coaching badges and doing that while playing 2nd fiddle
Could be that he content with his position
Might be interesting to hear RB's thought on what his role is next season - a DT interview maybe?

Agreed.

He?s a good backup keeper, he?ll be number 2 to whoever comes in as one.

Having a decent second keeper is a necessity not only for being back up (assuming we?ll name on won the bench now we?re back in the EFL) but also for training when playing eleven a side games and helping train whoever the number 1 is.

Having a competent replacement ready to replace you should also keep the number one on his game.

In his eyes we are a big club ( His own words) I?d wager he?s playing for increased remuneration plus he?ll have pocketed a nice bonus for going into L2.

He?s a happy boy mark my words.
God I hate this league.

And you really think he's happy to waste another of his prime years sat on the bench?

I think the fact he is happy to just do that says everything.

What?s his prime years, he?s got to an optimum level. At the end of the day it?s a team game, even Grigg or Jack Lester prospered because of others around them. Footballers are just doing a job of work.
God I hate this league.
