Wingers need to be fast? Rubbish! Wingers need to be able to play football, be able to cross a ball and be creative. Speed helps, but as JCR has demonstrated, it can be equally as impactful coming on the inside if you can't out run the defender. As long as he can continue to offer the attributes he has contributed during his current loan spell, he'd be a very good signing next season on a years deal.

Exactly, when did David Beckham have legs? His legs were Gary Nevilles.

David Beckham had so much Stamina that I'm sure he'd still be running now if he hadn't passed his driving test. Pace? Well. I wouldn't keep up with him but then again I'd lose a race against a moonwalking tortoise.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

I don't think we'd offer any more than 3.5k. 4K would be pushing it to the max

I agree, even £4k is pushing it, when you considering we need a squad of at least 20 players plus all the other costs we have to pay to run a football club. At best we get £100k from each home game, probably less than that when you take into account vat, concessionary prices, and the actual price season ticket holders pay per match. £4k would mean we would all be paying £2.50 each game just to cover his wages.

Suspect he will go to whoever is prepared to pay him the most, and who can blame him. We would all do the same, and his next contract will be important given his age.

I wouldnt pay anymore than £2.5 - 3K for any player in this league. Cant see any chance we would be paying 4K and i certainly wouldnt want us to.

Try and get Seb a nice three year contract somewhere, then offer Novak his wage on a three year deal for him. Novak would be an immense signing.

Novak would be able to get double what we can offer in this division next season. Coventry, Blunts, Charlton, Franchise even.....all could double our best offer. Then there are sides in the division above, Rotherham perhaps who may offer him a good wedge.

The fella says he wants to stay and it's up,to those upstairs. That translates to "match my wage demands and I will sign for you, otherwise I will play for someone else who, will"

Nah, forget Novak, he won't be with us next season.

A new hope.

The same could have been said of Davies, and yet DA thinks we could have kept him with more effort.

We probably could have, if we had offered him massive wages

We will just pay it for SEB instead who sits on the bench.

Without knowing costs we should go with the Burton plan and look to have a team of 'average joe's' so to speak. It can be done,Wallsall do it every season of late. Some fans will want promotion but with the wages we are currently committed to the Burton type plan may have to wait until next season.

We might see the 1 yr deal come to the fore more now with the no loans system. Obviously players / agents will fight tooth and nail against it but there will be a distinct change in recruiting this time.

God I hate this league.

I think you'll probably find at least four current players are receiving in excess of £3k a week now.

Your powers of recall need a bit of work you can consult specialists in this field.

I would love for us to sign Novak but at the right price. The flaw in your theory is what happens if he gets a bad injury, a high wage would be sat in the stands.

Wouldn't that affect any signing. That's Football!

This is the funniest thread I've seen since the one with the parrot eggs

I'd love to sign Novak as much as any Spireite, but truth is that it ain't going to happen guys. Here are half a dozen reasons why...

1) We can afford his wage demands (however realistic they might be to his current wages)
2) Several bigger clubs that can afford twice the wages we can afford will be in for him (see 1,3,4,5,6)
3) Good strikers are always in demand (see number 1,2,4,5 and 6).
4) Good proven and inform strikers will always command top wages (see 1,2,3,5,6)
5) His at his prime age as a footballer and will earn a good move to a smaller Championship or larger league 1 side (see 1,2,3,4 and 6)
6) Our board have done spending and more than likely wouldn't even splash out 3.5K a week, even if it was at all possible that Lee would sign for this little and even more unlikely that no one else bigger than us or nobody wouldn't offer him more than our 3.5K (see 1,2,3,4 and 5)

I've loved having Novak here, great little player at this level, but let's be totally realistic here guys, the odds on him signing for us are more than what Leicester City's were to win the premiership at the beginning of the season and Elvis, Lennon and JFK being at Old Trafford today to see them become Champions along with Shergar winning the 2017 Grand National

And not wanting to put a total damper (if I already haven't) on the opening poster amongst others, but what did you exactly expect Lee Novak to say to Peak when asked the question... You couldn't afford me? OR I'm hoping to sign for a Championship club or at least a league one club with a bit of ambition OR If no one else comes in for me then yes I'd love to consider it? We will make all the right noises that we offered him a staggering deal, but the truth of the matter is that we can't afford him and he will go elsewhere.

Thanks Lee for keeping us up, because without you we would have undoubtedly been relegated, and good luck with wherever you decide to go next. Us.. We move on and hope and pray that DA hasn't totally chucked the towel in with the team as next year is going to be a lot gloomier than this one if that's the case!

Not for me. I think he's been good for us this year, in a poor side, but not spectacular.

If we're going to play one up top then i'd rather see the money spent in the midfield. Invest in a Doyle type player up-top. Not spectacular, but hard working. Whih is the way I see Novak tbh.

Reality time folks, we haven't got the money to chuck around. Far better to invest in two or three younger players and try and develop then sell them. We can't afford grandstanding on wages.
