Team talk Friday
GC: OK, who likes me?

A number of reserves and academy players put their hands up more out of fear.

GC: All those who put their hands up stand over there, those who haven't put their hands up can go home.

All senior players leave the room.

GC: thanks for your support guys, your all in the squad for tomorrow

Reserve: but boss we don't have players for all positions
GC: Don't worry, no one will notice, after the game I will praise you all and say you played well against A very good team
Reserve: but boss we don't have a goalkeeper
GC: you over there, you are the tallest, you can go in goal

DW had been without Jones and Angel all the time he was manager.

Evans had spent a long time out this season whilst DW was manager.

Ariyibi only turned up on occasion and hadn't scored a single goal this season whilst there were those on these boards saying he should be dropped. Actually, we should have taken Brentford's offer before the season started.

O'Shea was sometimes good and sometimes anonymous. Obviously, we miss the good O'Shea but not the other one.

Problem is, most of GC's signing have been shocking and the keeper is no improvement on Fulton. Basically, whatever they have cost they have been a waste of money whilst the biggest waste of money has been getting rid of DW and giving what some are saying a generous contract to GC. In my opinion, if he is sacked this weekend, ST sales could increase as a result because no fans I speak to have any confidence in this guy at all.

If we had kept O'Shea, Liddle, O'Neil and Ariyibi (and Wilson) we would still be in with a chance of staying up. If he was actually allowed to sign a couple of decent loanees and with the return of a few long term injuries I think we would a few good points off the drop zone

It was no worse that 50/50 when Caldwell took over.

Tragic busines in January all round, manager and transfers

O'Shea: often referred to as a 'luxury' player but not one you'd want in a physical battle. Had a reasonable season (probably seemed better because the rest of the squad was so poor) but as ever, blew hot and cold.
Liddle: probably not as bad as many made out but certainly not up there with Morsy/Ryan (maybe we've been spoilt). Didn't command midfield. Probably would have been better with better quality alongside him. How many of us genuinely saw his departure as a real loss to the Club?
O'Neil: probably rated as highly (or lowly) as Liddle. Could just about do a job at RB or CM.
Ariyibi: some talent there but needs nurturing. Occasionally brilliant, more often than not largely ineffective.

... yet we wish we had these players now?!? These would have been our saviours?!? Just shows how much we've declined as a footballing side over the last couple of seasons.
