He didn't do a bad job of motivating Jack Lester. What other manager have we had has been a tactical genius?

Richardson was wrong for CFC, so has every other manager we have had, they nearly all get sacked in the end. Even the best motivator in recent years had somewhat of a floor in other areas and has not become the great manager everyone expected him to be.

Football management is a crap job, all of them at sometime get the sack because they are not good enough.

was it cloughie or fergie who said you dont become a good manager until youve got the boot?

Whether Rico was responsible for Jacks form, i dont know, but ill give him credit there..

Little else though....

No doubt he will come back better for the experience!

What is his track record?

He took over a team destined for relegation, his first full season as a manager he finished top half of the league, his second season he finished top half of the league.

Thats about it.

I would bet there are league managers with worse records?

Good luck to him. He did his best but it wasn't good enough for CFC, maybe he will do better with another club, who knows.

Compared to previous managers Peter Jackson didn't pull up any trees at Lincoln, when he took over near the start of the season they were bottom of the table after finishing in the play offs 4 years in a row, Jacko guided them to mid table two seasons running and was sacked for another poor bottom of the table start. Does that make Rico a better manager than Jacko.

As for JS, his track record is getting a club with limited finances in and around the play offs two seasons running at a higher level than where we are.

I'll second that 'Heavy_Soul'. Good luck to the bloke - he's got a family to support and he seemed like a decent enough bloke. He tried but didn't deliver enough for us, perhaps he'll do better elsewhere now that he has had time to reflect on how he might have done things differently over the last few years?

And what will you say if his lot canes our lot which on present results is a distinct possibilty.

Lets face it with our goal-scoring feats under JS the other lot only have to put one in the onion bag to beat us.

In all sincerity, i hope Lee Richardson gets another crack at management.

Throughout his tenure at Saltergate there were those that sought to defend his appointment by telling us what a talented young coach he is, how well thought of within the game he is, and that his failings were largely due to circumstances beyond his control.

Even to the point of blaming the fans.

So i say good luck to LR in his job-hunting: if he does well at another club then his aforementioned supporters will've gained credibility. Fair enough. However if he gets another contract yet things go pear shaped once again, then the 'right man, wrong club' stance will appear more than a little lame.

One thing, though: what if no one does give him a second chance....?

I hope Richardson never gets a job in football ever again.

Look at the mess he has left us in. Players on big money sat in the stands not even playing.

Until we can rid of the following we will be in this division along time:

Robertson
Currie
Goodhall
Page (Having a better season but well past his best)
Harsley
Gritton
Boden
Picken
Niven (Yes time to move him on I'm Afraid)
Lee (Not convinced and I have a fealing that Sheridan isn't either)

He made mistakes no doubt but why hope he never gets a job in football again? He has as much right to try and get a job and support his family as me and you! People learn from mistakes and hopefully so has he. Stupid comment.

Good luck to him. I have no doubts he tried his best for us and was complimentary about the club and fans when he left.
If only....

I would think he's learned much from his time here, as the old saying goes you learn from your mistakes, so that could put him in good stead for a future somewhere else. Rule number one, don't pay over the odds for a player close to the end of their career.

Rule 2 Play folk in the natural position.

Rule 3 Keep it simple at this level. Not a kaliedescope of tactical moves around the pitch with just one substitution.
A new hope.
