Are the club planning on doing anything to support the locals who have been affected?

No details on the website or on Social Media so I’m assuming not.

Casa and other businesses are really getting involved in getting help to folk.

Yep pretty much all the water has gone just leaving the mess it made behind for folk to tidy up. Some more rain this morning but hopefully wont cause the carnage it did on Friday.

I did notice that over £33,000 has already been raised to help the people affected on the Chesterfield Flood Appeal Gofund Me page which is great to see.

We actually have a flood victim living with us atm...

He is only an African Grey parrot, but his home along with his owners home has been devastated... and he needed some where to lodge for a month or 6...

Every little helps..

Belper Town flooded out again, and are running a fundraiser as they cannot obtain insurance against floods:

Well, I've concluded that a high percentage of "white van drivers" deserve their reputations. Using bullying tactics, over aggressive driving etc. just to gain an extra minute. This is brought about by the way the industry is run based on avarice. The top of the chain are always wanting more, sat looking at their spread sheets, seeing that if they deliver X they then want Y and putting pressure on the next link (be that financial or job security) in the chain and so forth until it reaches the bottom of the chain, the driver. Who then puts pressure on themselves resulting in pressure on other unsuspecting road users.

In the interests of road safety the industry needs government regulation. But the trouble is when it comes to avarice they can't regulare themselves!!

A lot of my mates are postmen and their Union is constantly fighting as the Royal Mail tries to adjust pay and conditions to compete in a market place where unregulated competitors can just skim off the cream of the market and pay pennies to their drivers.

Postmen can be disciplined for making a delivery without switching off and locking their vans- inspectors try to catch them out, I’m told (even if delivering to isolated farms) yet couriers will just park anywhere, engine running, lob the parcel over the wall and drive recklessly onwards.
These go to eleven.

Yep the other delivery companies are working to different rules. There was a time where they would put deliveries to further flung parts of the country into the Royal Mail pipeline to save time and money of getting them there themselves. I had a brief 4/5 weeks as a postie a few years ago on a temp xmas contract whilst looking for another job and the pressure they are under is ridiculous. Amazon deliveries had to be scanned and all sorts to prove delivery while their own drivers deliver it to somewhere in the vicinity of the house, sod off and the first you know about it is a notification from the amazon app that something has been delivered!!
