Really? That's actually a thing,.

Obviously not islamaphobia, we all know that's a thing..

Tbf, they have these 'special' days or dedicated weeks regular, and they probably pass most us by without us even realising, why should this one be any different?

Hopefully future generations will be better informed and more tolerant. I was in school this week (my voluntary job) and listening to a bunch of kids talking about their experiences with studying history. They were being taught anglo saxon stuff but also about what was happening in Arabia at the same time, including the spread of Islam. Hopefully with education comes tolerance.

Mind of the 12 students on the panel, 8 would have been described as being from an ethnic minority. Maybe that will help future generations understand that we are all the same really...

I actually have a massive problem with religions being a protected characteristic. It boils my urine they are conflated with race.

For one not all religions seem to be given this protection. There are plenty you can deride followers for but others are untouchable.

Secondly religion is a personal choice and as such it should be perfectly reasonable to dislike someone for their personal choices. If you look at most religions they are genuinely stupid based on ridiculous claims and general nonsensical stories. Why shouldn't someone be able to call that out?

Why do we as a society not only tolerate this nonsense but actively empower these small minded bigots (they always hate everyone else's thoughts and ideologies).

**** religion, all of them.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

Well said my friend, well said. Plenty of bigoted views on this personal section.

Is it a choice? many are brought up in a culture where religion is a key element. We cant judge all by our relatively lax approach to it in this country.

By the way, isnt hating religion hating someone else's thoughts and ideologies, and therefore you have just described yourself as small minded bigot? Might be accurate based on that comment. Before you say it, I have no religious bone in my body, but I do have many friends who are relaxed about religion but follow the approach they were brought up with for family happiness. Maybe a few more concerned about their families in this country would be a start...

well as its impossible to distinguish between desire and brainwashing, probably yes. Some are brainwashed into a football club or a political party,too...

Like many things in life, there are too many grey areas to view it as black and white. For me I dont care what religion, race, colour or politics (or football!) someone adheres too as long as they have the same view...that its ok to have your own views.

And some of the most brainwashed are classed as Christian religions, Jehovah's Witnesses & Mormons to name just 2.

I don't agree with you on your continual tirades about people in positions working for the club, but as a confirmed Atheist I agree that all these medieval belief systems should be abolished in the 21st century.

Check the history of Spain, Portugal, Malta and Sicily. They used to be Muslim countries (Sicily was a country of its own until the unification of Italy in the 1800's) under the rule of the Moors. You can't get much more Western Europe than those 4.

For instance....what about the mass genocide of the Bengali Hindus in 1971, where the Pakistani imams declared Hindu women as 'spoils of war', 400'000 raped and tortured, all based on a religious fatwa....

Remember this figure: 400'000....

Ethnic cleansing by peaceful Muslims...3 million killed; 10 million refugees.

Funny how wishing everyone a happy Christmas never results in the 'usual suspects' responding with equal bile against Christians...
