Stupid Selection Where's Hird? Jones? Even Gardner!

I'm not sure the manager knows what he's doing. Personally I think Danny W would have done better; granted he was playing boring, ugly football, but probably he had the managerial experience to realise we haven't got the squad to play any other style. GC's style requires good players...the players we had under Cook 3 years ago!
Why pick a 17 year old in a must win game?
Why drop Hird who is clearly our best defender and leader (now Evo is out)
Why drop Jones when he clearly cares about town?
Why play out from the back when we aren't good enough and put ourselves under pressure?
Why bring everyone back but still allow a shot come goal from 20 yards out?
Why not give Gardner a go sooner (sad times when I'm asking for DG)
Why keep changing it...the players look like amateurs who haven't got a manager...
To me it looks like GC hasn't a clue what he is doing and sadly, it looks as if he has lost the dressing room, including our better more senior players.
I'm doubtful he has what we need to recruit a team good enough for league 2 next year...His success at Wigan was linked to having a massive budget. We won't have...sad times

Why play three at the back, when it doesn't work.

Wilson>Caldwell. as tooley said we weren't doing great but we kept gathering points here and there, been said before but at point of sacking we were 5th bottom, what we'd give for that now, heck i'd even take 4th bottom 3 points behind right now, disaster of an appointment

It's criminal not playing Hird and not even having Jones on the bench. Safe to say Jones isn't being offered a new contract.
What names will come out the bag next week, no-one knows

Don't agree. IMO you play your best team. Every game. We are paying their wages and I feel that today I have been fleeced and for this season to be honest.
The lad did ok but embarrassing to see the senior players on the bench. Maybe an appearance from the bench would have been more acceptable in my opinion.

Sadly he is still worth his place in the team
Next Saturday will hopefully be his swansong when even our mathematical chance will have all but disappeared

It didn't matter. You need to question his selections and tactics for Oldham Bury Shrewsbury AFC Wimbledon Northampton etc. Winnable games, and when we still had a chance.
I'm pleased he played Rowley. He should play all our kids. German, Maquire, Beesley Rowley Dimiao Nolan ( he's ours) and give em a shout and a chance to play men's football.

Surely we have to factor in losing Jay o Shea, Ariyibi and Evans . If Wilson had been without them and stayed with us then we would imo be where we are now.

I still maintain Nolan is not the right person - great if it turns out well for him but at league level he's very shaky.

I agree. Rowley did when the lack of effort and indecision around him is taken into account.
But, GC keeps saying he believes we are good enough to stay up. Then plays a system, insult to the word "system", which doesn't even provide us with a shot in the first half. On top of this anyone facing the pitch could have told you that whatever this "system" was supposed to be, the players didn't believe in it, and it wasn't working well before they scored their first goal. So that manager of ours waits until they have scored 3 goals and HT arrives to change it (if he did, or was it the players?) and, guess what, we actually won the second half.

I feel i must add that my comment that I'd no issue with a 17 yr old Rowley being given his debut is in no way an endorsement of Caldwells management credentials!

DW had been without Jones and Angel all the time he was manager.
Evans had spent a long time out this season whilst DW was manager.
Ariyibi only turned up on occasion and hadn't scored a single goal this season whilst there were those on these boards saying he should be dropped. Actually, we should have taken Brentford's offer before the season started.
O'Shea was sometimes good and sometimes anonymous. Obviously, we miss the good O'Shea but not the other one.
Problem is, most of GC's signing have been shocking and the keeper is no improvement on Fulton. Basically, whatever they have cost they have been a waste of money whilst the biggest waste of money has been getting rid of DW and giving what some are saying a generous contract to GC. In my opinion, if he is sacked this weekend, ST sales could increase as a result because no fans I speak to have any confidence in this guy at all.

It's right to look to the players but also the management as they are responsible for motivating players and building loyalty and passion to perform. We have the wrong man I'm afraid!

i think ST sales will be alarmingly low compared to recent seasons and the product Caldwell has put out since mid January is not helping in the slightest. there was a really good call on peak today with someone talking about ferguson and Donny and how they went down last season with momentum, now if we were going down with signs of positivity it may sway some, yet we are a shambles of a team, stories of senior players at odds with GC, his own signings not featuring, not adding anything to the side or returning to their own clubs. bizzare team selections, non existent tactics, oh by the way our manager doesn't think its anything to do with tactics "YOU WHAT?" so like many, I have no confidence in this man. he is not up to it, that is clear. league 2 beckons and it will be no walk in the park, I do not think this manager should be trusted to assemble a squad of players.
