Rumour from a friend of a friend, 3 defenders coming in, Williams off, Grimes told he has 3 months to prove he?s L2 quality or he?s off in Jan, Mandeville to be back up right back (pinch of salt may be required for this)

I know u say it?s a rumour but Cook giving his captain that sort of ultimatum doesn?t sit with how he works and motivates. I think we can file that one in the load of bollux bin.

I don?t think any are good enough, grimes is the best but at his age it?s not the time to play at a higher level than he is used too .

Well this is all the fun of a rumours thread, said bin will be absolutely bulging by the end of close season

I?m not sure I?d want to rely on Sheckleford as first choice RB. I tend to think we will sign another RB as first choice. If not, Williams should be kept as he can cover at RB if necessary whereas Palmer is strictly a one position man.

As such, if any RCB is to be moved on from what we?ve got it should be Palmer as I think we should be signing another RCB who is likely to be first choice.

Additionally, I think a LCB is essential either to be first choice or to be good enough to keep Grimes on his toes so to speak. Currently, we only have one LCB and one LB in the squad.

We have to remember that once the window closes we cannot sign anyone until January so have to ensure we have enough options and/or cover until then. As such, and that?s why, I would expect a few promising U21 players to arrive who will not be counted as part of our 22 but, nevertheless, would boost our squad numbers.

January window will be a defining period, by then we?ll have a good idea how our season is looking and that will influence both ins and outs .
God I hate this league.

I?d imagine Cooks incomings over the summer will be with the whole season targeted, again I don?t think he?ll leave anything to chance until January, likewise the Kirk?s.

Remember that players contracts end on last day of May....so we may see signings once June 1st arrives

Indeed but I don?t think the actual end date of the contract has much to do with players getting fixed up earlier. Perhaps some out of contract players get more realistic in their demands once preseason starts.

Usually, players who have been released will sign as soon as they want. Players at the end of their contract and been offered a new deal wait until their current contract has run down.

My thoughts entirely. These types of rumours are too daft to laugh at. How the hell does anyone know what the manager has said to a player in private?
Reminds me of Dan Hodges the political columist in the Mail on Sunday who makes his living by saying, 'a backbencher said... blah, blah, blah' (usually something outrageous) but no names can of course ever be mentioned. He's almost certainly making it all up just like these constant silly rumours on here. No crediblity whatsoever.
