Although Nottingham is relatively local and we have played them regularly in my time until recently they aren’t a club who I thought about much. Big city but (owing to Forest) crowds not much bigger than ours and no success, so to me they were little different to say Lincoln or Grimsby. However in recent years I have never known a fan base - Mansfield apart- who seem to hate us so much, regularly calling us a horrible club and droning on with the tedious Cheaterfield stuff. What is it with them? I can only think maybe they have always been like this towards us and social media has amplified this, there was a time pre internet before you really knew what other fans thought. Either that or some are actually Mansfield fans.

Anyway there are certain clubs who I can’t stand and enjoy it all the more when we beat them. Hull, Bradford and Grimsby seem to have horrible fan bases who have always caused trouble, both dee dahs of course and obviously Mansfield. Notts County wouldn’t have been on this blacklist but now they are.

What you're saying is backed up by the cringeworthy YouTube effort from one of their fans highlighted on the Notts County thread. They seem to think we regard them as huge rivals - I've never been that bothered about them.

Whats stranger is they have generally done ok against us in the past including going up over us in a play off final we should have won. Their moaning and whining about us is just strange.

Who could they have as rivals? with their perceived entitlement, Forest and derby are to big and would give them an inferiority complex. The scabs are one of their own so geographically it's us.

And maybe Andy Crawfords delightful back heel in '81 is still ingrained in the minds of blanket and flask brigade

Notts County are like the school bully... fine laughing at us on the journey up the M1 a couple of years ago.

But how dare you come on our land and do that to us?

Sorry lads, it's called karma. Get on and deal with it.

They just need to feel like they're someone's rivals, but like I put on the banter page, they're just insignificant.. no-one cares about them.
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

Never quite understood County fans. Even stranger knowing both clubs dislike of Mansfield. You would think that we would be united in our rivalry against the Stags. Not to mention that our clubs are very similar in footballing heritage, age, year founded , fanbase etc. Never really classed them as rivals....but if they want to see it as that Hey Ho.....such is life.

They're just an odd bunch. Mouthy online, quiet in real life. Their fan-base is disproportionately geeky/vlogger/virgin types and over 70s. Not a lot inbetween.

Again a bunch of complete weirdos. I’m old enough to remember the meetings up a Saltergate where they could barely muster a thousand travelling fans.

They’ve had some serious luck against us in the last 6 or so seasons so Saturdays win was all that sweeter.

One of my strongest memories post-Wembley, was of how many County fans were on the tube, behaving as though it was them that had lost. Given we'd left before their players had even climbed the steps, I was surprised so many of them were out. The lack of jubilation was weird.

A tartan-blanketted Port Vale. Local "rivals" couldn't care less so they've looked longingly northward in the hope of some attention. Cute.

They are very pessimistic, probably because they can look over the river at the other stadium and see what they could have won.

This

Forest don’t really see them as rivals, more like an elderly relative to feel a bit sorry for

Derby see forest as the rival and county as, well the elderly relative to feel a bit sorry for.

Scabs hate us and see county as the elderly relative to feel a bit sorry for.

Our rivalry is 100% with the scabs and to a lesser extent millers and Dee dahs, Lincoln and Grimsby to an extent as well - We look at county as a distant insignificant elderly relative to feel a bit sorry for
A new hope.
