Had f and c from Chatsworth Rd and they were, as ever, very good. Yet chips (even triple cooked, beef dripping by Tahitian maidens) from pubs are never as good.
Any other good chippy’s?

Not been for a while but North Sea Fish Bar, at Whitt, always used to give a proper portion....
There's a fair whack of innuendos available in there 😐

Chesters, the North Sea fish bar and the tupton fish bar are all very good but as you live in wingerworth the chippy on Edinburgh court has always been excellent since the present owners took over about 3/4 years ago (terrible before).
The only downside is the waiting time as fish are always cooked to order the upside being they haven't been sat there for an hour......and yes the chips are good too!!!
You can ring in your order in advance as well....

As for chip shops. Can't fault the fish at The Chippy on Chatsworth Rd, and their curry sauce is sublime, but for chips my preference is Union Jack or Chatsworth Rd. Boythorpe used to be decent at one time too, but haven't been there in ages.

I think that might be the one that is now Hakka San. The chips are a let down, but the Salt and Pepper squid is divine.

But the best chippy I’ve used round here was he old one in barrow hill that’s been shut a few years, followed closely by Margaret’s I guess

Man Wan was the Chinese on what is now the one way road up to the Rose & crown. It was a great takeaway. Tend to use Union Jack as my Chippy of choice these days

Another vote for Margarets
Duke street, just off whit moor roundabout for those that don't know it.
Small place, front room of a terraced house basically and only opens Thursday to Saturday IIRC
Always busy though, be prepared to queue during peak times.

Chip shop chips are crimes against potatoes.
The absolute worst kind of food, not just in Britain, but in the western world.
Soggy, wet, fat laden over cooked tasteless slop.
Then there is the fish. Take a great tasting piece of fish, and drown it’s delicate taste in batter that is so soaked in grease you taste nothing else and could run a diesel truck on it.
A truly dreadful dish. No it’s not even a dish, it’s utter utter crap. A crime. The absolute worst rkind of British food
