Thought about making this one, a last decent day out before the ignominy of League Two.

Unfortunately Work had other ideas. Ah well.

Daft thing is the inevitability of our demise now leaves us with afternoons of stress-free football. A hammering? So what - we've been easily dissected by ordinary sides like Rochdale, so the prospect of getting sliced apart by promotion candidates merely elicits gallows humour. A bit like when the disgraced Stuart Hall used to say 'We can sit back and laugh at everyone else' when the British team were knocked out of 'Jeux Sans Frontiers' (under forties ask your folks).

Then of course every minute that passes without embarrassment brings a kinda pressure upon the home side.

Yeah, sorry; my contribution to April Fools Day.

A manager who some might argue doesn't wanna be here? A club secretary (or whatever Carson's calling himself these days) who doesn't wanna be here? An owner who clearly doesn't wanna be here? And of course a plethora of players who won't be here beyond the season's end.

I'm told Town are sevens for an away win at the bookies. 'What, hundreds or thousands to one?' I responded.

Anyway, here's my feeble attempt at a game thread for those who haven't joined the four figure following reportedly making the gig. Those running CFC really don't deserve them.

i will tune into peak at 2pm and probably switch off at 5 past 2 when phil announces the team line up, then again I do quite enjoy listening to phil trying to figure out the formation and who is going to play where.

Bolton are 10 to 3 on with Corals

We could kickoff at that time today without bolton on the pitch and still not score enough goals to win the match

Seen cert homes before -used to sit there every sat night with 200 coupons to settle and you could rid of most of them with one unexpected result, ,let's hope that's Bolton today lol

Bolton to score four or more and Bolton -2 are my bets.

I get the impression Carson enjoys his role here. Maybe he derives some kind of prestige from running a football club badly!

He's merely doing his master's bidding, in my view.

Infact their relationship at CFC seems to mirror their relationship at Hillsborough in many ways.

With a similar impact upon punters and sponsors alike.

Meanwhile the cynical and suspicious part of me is convinced he's recieving much more than mere prestige...

I'm sure he will be doing nicely out of it but as I say I think he enjoys the role.

Running a football club certainly keeps him more in the public eye than head of the Deedah Assay office whatever that does

So...

Stuckmann
McGinn
Hird ©
Gardner
Dimaio
Nolan
Donohue
Dennis
Anderson
Maguire
Rowley

Subs

Fulton
Angel
SEB
Mitchell
Simons
Grimshaw
Beesley

..of Caldwell's signings only Stuckman starts whilst Grimshaw's on the bench.

A manager who's admitting his mistakes, giving our own youngsters a go or just simply waving a white flag?

Oh, and it seems Jones is well and truly out of favour. Injured, or a case of 'Sam Morsy: welcome to my world'?

Cashley is doing all this for free as he has stated numerous times. The man's a club legend.

Otherwise known as the 'Oh f**k, what have I got myself into, please sack me' line-up?

Whatever, it is probably the best thing to do

My football credentials in management are less than nil, apart being a decent Jimmy Greaves type inside right in my youth. My management skills and results would have been on par with our present manager.

And yet Cauldwell has nothing to fear in losing his job, I wonder if I would have got the gig for next season.

The bookies odds 10/3, have they mixed up, that could be the score.

Question: whilst DW received sympathy for making the best of a bad job, why is GC receiving universal damnation despite being in a similar position?

There didn't seem to be much sympathy for DW around the time he was sacked. There were many calling for his head.

Right now the fact Gary managed to make a poor squad even poorer puts into perspective the task Wilson had with that squad. He left us outside of the relegation zone. Not bad all things considered.

He isn't making the best of it?

You're right, but it was almost a reluctant, resigned acceptance a former favourite had had his day.

And, after you quite rightly state, he'd done all he could under circumstances dictated by others.

But Caldwell?

The warning signs were there...and he's proving them more than accurate.
