You've carried out what is a very important behind the scenes job in a thoroughly professional manner in your time at CFC.
What we call an "unsung hero".
All the best in your retirement mate !

Haha , 1971 , 19 year old trialist centre forward , coming in from Heanor Town ( Midland League at that time ) .
Just managed the 2 games , I think I played against the 2 biggest , roughest centre halves ever , Cooke from Bradford City and Stubbs from Notts County .
Gutted not to be asked back ! Oh well ! Big sigh. , Thanks for sharing the memory. ,

New Kit Man
There has been a new Kit Man appointed.
His name is Jason Baker and he lives in Sheffield. He has no previous experience.
I was informed via CT that Steve was intending to leave on his birthday and he was unable to work beyond his birthday as he is booked into hospital for his operation. Steve has been a top bloke. When I spoke to Steve he informed me that he thought a reserve kit man at Leicester may be interested. I said "fantastic" as trying to find a kit man is not easy. From my point of view we must firstly have someone who is not a "Fan" and be totally confidential. Things that the kit man hear and see in the dressing room at half time, need to stay in there. No disrespect but someone not directly connected to Chesterfield is good, that is why the Leicester guy was appealing.
Steve messaged him several times and he never responded. Time ticking by and I mentioned it toJason who used to work for me. He is a football mad nut and major State and very organised. He had just started a clerical job but his first love is football, he is also a referee, not sure what level, but pretty good.
He told me he was very interested, I mentioned this to both CT and Steve, Steve suggested he shadowed him for a morning and then a match. Steve 100% supported Jason and said that he thought he would be perfect. Jason has been appointed, yes he has received a small increase in pay to what Steve was earning, but hey, this is not a 9 - 5 job and some weeks Steve works 70 hours, don't forget he also looks after the reserves and youth.
I am confident Jason will do a great job, he remembers the error with Spurs and Holsten Pils, in a Cup Final, yep he got me too !!! He is very professional, discreet, honest and trustworthy, I also had very good feedback from Roger and Ritchie.
Steve really liked him, I called Steve and he was very happy.
Jason took the game on Tuesday at Walsall as Steve was having tests for new hips.
Steve will assist Jason in the summer with new kit and new players... etc.....
This is all about finding someone suitable and I can assure you if I thought he could not do the job, he would not be here.
We had not enough time for a full interview process and to my knowledge the guy from Leicester has still not contacted Steve !!!

I wouldn't believe most of that.

Telling someone 'not to bother coming for that interview' hardly sounds like no contact was made.

Said interview was then without any explanation cancelled and a former employee of the Assay Office was then appointed, although he apparently has zero experience in the role.
Care to correct me if your wish Ashley.
