When I went to Chesterfield on Sunday or Monday, I headed out to Glapwell and down the by pass, given I lived on the Hill for a while I am used to using that way anyway, but so much quicker.... bit out of your way for Brim though and going to Mastin Moor and Staveley not much better as roadworks on that road too!
Mind it took me 46 mins to clear Hemel on Friday night due to roadworks and traffic, 2.5 miles....

What are they actually doing? I’m going up the by-pass and up Rylah Hill on Saturday.

It's something to do with the industrial park being built down buttermilk lane. Not due to be completed until the end of October

October.... ffs.
Mind the number who go on green but stop at the roundabout to check is amazing, do they not realise that’s what the traffic lights are controlling!

I used Rylah the other day which reminded me why I don’t.... had a car written off on there by a garage trader many years ago....
So up the hill to Bolsover road and enjoy the run across, I can get there quicker going that way if no slowcoach gets in the way 😉

It's much improved recently and fine if foreign lorry drivers don't use it when they shouldn't.

Or young boy racers who straight line the blind bends... I will stick to long way round, I like playing on the bit from glappy to palterton, sport mode, manual shifts with the paddles for about 2 miles then back to potter mode!

Funny because in places you cannot get two cars past each other without driving in the hedge bottom. I'll give you the surface is better but that's all and that is breaking up again, all they did was put kerbs in where there wasn't any, as for widening it not a chance.

I used to do that sometimes when I worked in helper - I had a 306 GTi6 which much preferred country roads to motorways so when I had it I always took the fun route home... till it decided to switch ends on a bend unexpectedly and I somehow (luck not skill) managed to do a 180 and not go off or hit anything. I swapped for a golf diesel soon after and used the M1 a lot more!
Feel I should be buying an ev to do my bit for the environment (or at least a PHEV) but every time I look I end up looking at fast noisy versions instead...!

I like cars. My mum and dad met at the motor club, so I guess it was meant to be. The noise is part of the theatre - no matter how fast an EV is, it doesn’t have that...
I might be noisy, blame it on going deaf and shouting so I can hear myself. Plus 5 years teaching and being educated on how to project my voice. Fast, no chance these days. It’s one of the things you notice in London, the platform fast walk when the train pulls in - most pass me now. I blame 57...

Was more of a gentle trundle in our big insignia estate but window down for fresh air instead of air con, music on it was all just a lot nicer than getting annoyed at folk lane hogging or driving like idiots on the m1!
It could be a bit more fun as and when we finally get our second car sorted which will be EV, the corsa-e we had on 48hr test drive was great fun and that was without it even being in sport mode. Couple of years down the line we will probably look at hybrid for the insignia replacement. Other half wants a Jag XF estate but we’ll see what’s what when we get round to it.

On the EV front I like the pug 208 - which of course is the same as the corsa now but I have pug in my history. But I am most likely to buy an Audi Q4 or VW id4 or skoda Enyaq Iv. Or maybe an ipace or Tesla model y..
But most likely I won’t until it’s nearer the nave to date...
I like gentle trundles with window down.. it’s what I did today.
