FLATTERS TO DECIEVE , SO FRUSTRATING that guy , beats his man and gets a shot in with no power like a 11 yr old weak weak efforts , that wing play a couple of seasons ago was absolutly brilliant at rochdale , credit that day when its due , but he should be more consistant , loads of skill but final ball shocking , sell him asap mitchell also tries but too lightweight , another one poor poor crosses

Gboly better today but he lacks composure in front of goal and for that decisive pass.
That said great ball across face of goal that was crying out to be tapped in.
Needs to deliver like today on a more consistent basis but something for Caldwell to work on

It would help if certain players actually got into the penalty area to try and get on the end of the "final ball". Did O'Shea enter their penalty area in the entire match?

I did notice Simons getting there when Evans went wide but more often than not our players remained on the peripheral of the penalty area rather than in it.

He should be more consistent, what a ridiculous claim for a league one player

.........

Not making excuses but they had a lot of bodies in the box. I thought their defensive work was excellent

Agreed.
If he was, he wouldn't be a league one player!

Probably be banned after this. But I thought gboly was shocking.
Can't ride a tackle. Can't pick a pass. Except for the one Dennis should have buried. No to me he offers creates nothing. When he gets a chance in area. He's, clueless. He's not improved at all. Suppose that's me kicked off. But I've not good blue tinted glasses.

Not sure how you can get kicked off for having an opinion? There would be no one left on here. Anyway, Gboly shows glimpses of promise now and then, but has been poor since September. However, today at least I have to give him a tick in the box where he's failed any other time I've seen him this season - and that he tried, he even chased a player back and won the ball back after he lost it. During the second half there were three men on him all the time, so hard for him to get any where. He did well today at times I thought. Massive improvement and hopefully the new man can get more out of him than DW did this season.

That was because, although we looked more solid today, our build-up was painfully slow, giving them loads of time to get back and cover. After that, it needed something far sharper than we could produce to open them up.

Completely agree. His shooting, both with head or feet, is atrocious, he is very easily brushed off the ball, and he has no anticipation whatsoever.

I tend to agree with you. So frustrating when he keeps falling over. His positional play doesn't improve and he hardly ever puts a good cross in.

When Gboly arrived at Town he was a quick enough, tricky, promising winger who could not be relied upon to perform with any consistency. He has not progressed since.
Unfortunately any quality in the squad has been sold since his arrival, so we have to pick him as a starter every week.

I have no problem with his strength and his effort. He was marked by 2 men so when he gets help from a proper full back we'll get some reward. What CG has to do summat about is that if a cross is due to go in and the only man in the area to help Ched is Gboly, then he is no threat at all. Somebody else has to be in there.

I don't know why people are so shocked when Gboly is inconsistent. He always has been, sadly is 90% bad, 10% good. We need someone a little less inconsistent a La Dean Morgan, contributes in as many games as he doesn't.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything!

In one of his post match interviews GC said that he recognised that there are areas game that he will work with him on to add to his game. This included the final ball and helping make decisions about his positioning. Improvement in these coupled with the approach he showed yesterday might still mean we have a real player on our hands. I hope we hold onto him for the rest of the season even if we lose him in the summer with him out of contract. (Is he the age where we still get something?). We have few potential game changers and really can't afford to lose those we have.

Apart from the final ball/shot his other main problem is that he doesn't do things quickly enough. He often gets the ball with one man to beat and he obviously has the pace and trickery to do it, but he very rarely just hits it past him to just beat him with pace. He slows it right down to do the tricks by which time he has 2/3 men to beat. If he'd just go for it whilst he has them on the back foot he would be far more effective. The midfielders them have to bust a gut to get up there for the cross

He needs other men to run off the ball for him to give him options.
