Don't know where you get your facts Danny but its completly wrong bud,women can and are members,my dad was a founder member,dead now but my mother can go in on her own membership.

My girlfriends dad is a member and they won't allow her or her mum to join. It was Amanda who told me that one of her dad's friends (who is a woman) now has to be signed in by one of the blokes as she cannot become a member in her own right, since her partner died.

I've not been in for a while as i saw the light lol but i will find out for you,unless they have changed the rules quite recently then there is no problem women with becoming members i know loads lol.
