Id love to know how the theory about playing better in a higher league works, although i will accept jacobs did not have a pre season, for me he isnt a 90 minute player and i feel he probably needs to up his goal tally

I thought Saturday was typical. Had a great first half but seemed to disappear for long stretches after that. He seemed to revel in the extra space he got out on the left, first half.

On the subject of Banks, it would be pushing our (and his) luck to give him a two-year deal. Offer a one-year and teach some of the others to shoot.

Well, call me an old dinosaur but it looks as though the fans are going to be well and truly shafted again in the cause of lining a few pockets. Kick-off times all over the place (how does that impact on people who've bought season tickets) and an extortionate fee to watch sky sports with it's endless yak yak. And all on top of the non-replay FA Cup.
'Sod the paying customer, the fools will watch whatever we chuck at them' is what it amounts to.

Fortunately these game changing incidents didn't really matter in the big scheme of things and the 2nd was so laughable all you could do was sit down, shake your head and revisit the 4 absolute stonewall penalties we've been denied this season and reflect that it's a good job we've been good and these bizarre decisions haven't been to costly.

Another, perhaps insignificant issue, when the term "integrity" has been bandied about in relation to NL decisions how about the integrity of the match officals displaying an inability to use a stop watch? Why does it always appear if town are hanging on in a game 6/7/8 minutes gets added, when we are chasing the game it's 3/4 minutes? The added 3 minutes last night was as big a mistake as the penalty cock ups, its not a snap decision like the penalty awards it's simple, the 4th official with time on his hands (sorry) keeps track. 30 seconds per sub X6 = 3 minutes, book a keeper for time wasting 1 minute plus if it warrented a booking he must have done it several times before 2? minutes. Playing on a wide open stadium so an allowance for ball retrieval 2 minutes, in saying that I thought the ballchildren (best be PC) were excellent. Other sundry bits 1 minute. Putting the correct time 8ish minutes in this case (Where's JD when you need him) not only gives the true 8 minutes to get something from the game but also gives the team an adrenaline rush a 'come on we do this" sort of thing.

I can't understand how officals leave them so open for criticism in such situations and leaving their integrity open for question unless they are adding to their CVs with a view of joining the NL management team.

Plus the statutory half minute for the goal. I remember at the beginning of the season that the league had decided that the fans should be given a full 90 minutes, and referees were instructed to add minutes at their discretion for time wasting tactics. It actually seemed to cut down the black arts at first, but it was dropped about 5 games in with no reason.
The fans can take what they're given, seems to be the policy again.

End of season relaxation apart, I'm just confirmed in the opinion I formed some weeks ago - we've been sussed. Any team that can close down all over the pitch, the same as we do, can disrupt the clever passing and stop our main threat, then a few long balls over a slow defence and bingo. It doesn't pay to underestimate the other managers in this league - they can see what we do every week and plan to counteract it when it's their turn. It's just as well it took some of them a long time to catch on.
Having said that, tonight was a much better effort, but only Mandeville seems able to pick out a pass under pressure and even he goes back more often than forwards.

I seem to recall winning the league two title playing this formation under Cook and reaching league one play-offs.

Some people on here need to get a grip, we won this league comfortably and am not surprised the players maybe don't challenge for 50/50 balls like they were or putting in the same shift. To some degree it is a bit disappointing but the priority was getting out of this league and that box has been ticked.

Next season i've no doubt we will play the same formation but i would be surprised if we push up as high as we have done in most games. In the FA Cup games versus Portsmouth and Orient we were less Gung Ho and expect the more reserved approach next year. There was an interesting discussion on talk sport (unusual I know) talking about Spurs and their high line and the point made was you can play that style when you have the best players in the league (as Postecoglu had in his previous teams, but not at Spurs) and I thought yes, that was us this season.

As always I will watch close / pre-season with interest and see how we are fixed after 10 games or so.

I don't think for a minute that he'll play the same way in league 2 as he does now. If he does we're sitting ducks. With everybody at the top of their game it'll still be dubious, and, as we've seen lately, a small drop off in standards and the likes of Kidderminster and Wealdstone can run us ragged.
It's going to be very interesting to see just who comes in, which should tell us next seasons approach. Whatever, if we ship 60 goals next season we'll be lucky to stay in the League
