I’d forgotten all about this game including the spat between Warnock and Hart.
But to be fair to Warnock it was an atrocious challenge from Bruno!

Literally not less than 20 miles away.

Anyway, that tackle was absolutely outrageous!

Warnock was always enraged with Town, ever since his release was mishandled by us, apparently. He found out he wasn't being retained by a phone call from a mate who had read it in the D. Times who started to commiserate with Warnock, who initially didn't know what his mate was going on about.

Yes that’s about it. Thing is it came as no surprise to those of us who had watched him over the years in the Northern Intermediate League, reserves and the first team.

Is that the game we had Steve Cherry in goal on loan from Plymouth. Had such a good game that he signed for County and we got Mick Leonard

I dont think anyone can try to justify such a shocking challenge warnock was correct,Big Andy wasnt a nasty player infact that was probably his only tackle...thankfully.

Can’t remember the spat but remember it well as the 2 own goals game. Strange feeling when you watch footage of old games and realise that you are in that footage as a youngster.

It was certainly around that era but think it was the season before the one in the clip where that happened.

That's correct.

Steve had been brilliant for us and he ended up joining County a few days after we played them. Even though he wasn't our player it felt like a big loss at the time. Saw him down at Wembley as we were leaving the stadium.

I think the Steve Cherry game was the previous season, in fact I’m sure it was.

I’m sure this game was from the following season, but happy to be proven wrong.

According to Soccerbase, County game was on 11/02/89 and Cherry signed for County on 16/02/89. Where did those 35 years go?

Just watched the highlights and the one against sheff utd was an awful challenge by Bruno, he was very high with his studs showing, he'd have been sent off in the modern game.

The after match interviews are a bit cringe, didn't realize Clive Dunn was our commentator.

Although it might have been Mick Leonard in the County goal, sooo it might have been the following season, confused myself now.

I’m sure he joined us the season we went down- played an absolute blunder at rammal lane, same against Notts T saltergate then once the loan was up they bought him and we signed Mick Leonard who was in goal for county

Has we kept Cherry we’d have stayed up
A new hope.
