1998

Genuinely think we could have won it with a bit more luck (Sol Campbell's disallowed goal etc)

And first world cup that I was of drinking age for - good times!

You’re younger than I was giving you credit for😆. Had just got here in japan by then. After that match vs Argentina, remember very little about it tbh (ended at about 6 am here. In at work for 10. Never recovered!!!! Do remember Sol Campbell’s amazing dribble vs Colombia, mind...

1990 if only for the first game of the tournament Cameroon v Argentina and Benjamin Massing's 'ahem' tackle on Caniggia!

Italia 90 for me, the comeback against Cameroon, then the platt goal v belgium, pity we just seemed to run out of luck, when we needed it most.
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

1990 for me too. England were as sh*t as usual but managed to drag themselves to the semis where they were superb.
Platt's goal against Belgium was a special moment too. Other highlights were Cameroon of course & the little Italian pocket rocket, Scillachi.

Agreed that that was the best, but it was my first and an absolute wonder to me.
I bought that Danish kit on eBay a month ago. Recommend reading 'Danish Dynamite' which is a superb book about that side.

World Cups are definately personal 'epoch' moments.....

1st memory is Scotland doing something well in 78, Archibald?????.....but actually I know not what or even if the name is relevant.

1982....no idea.

86.....on Scout Camp at Hesley Woods, Lineker hat trick against Poland, with a broken wrist?

90.....oh the best. Against Germany, I ran to Spar on Nobbie Rd at HT and bought another red for the 2nd half and (just about hiccup) penalties.

The rest.....I lost interest generally, they're paid too much and don't have the skill of other nationalities.

I do however remember V Nigeria in 2002, staying in a Scottish hotel. The game KO was 6.30am ish, so I got up, put the TV on and got ready for a full on early brekkie. Left the room, ate well and got back knowing I'd see 80 mins of the game before check out......only to find the hotel room satelite service 'down' as the match was about to begin. Wnkr5!!
