Eesh. Not good at all. Didn’t realise he flapped at the second one too

He's not a natural at coming for crosses and dominating his area. He's got better at it as the season has gone on but in the National League you're going to get a bit of aerial bombardment at times and I'm not sure he's the man for that. But then, as we also need someone good with their feet I may be asking for too much at our level.

I haven't seen the free kick back yet so don't want to place too much blame but it seems like a mistake that has cost us when we were a couple of minutes away, however it's the story of our season, cut out these silly mistakes and we push for the title this year with almost of mot over 100 points.

Fitz has been the better of the 2 keepers we've had this season, we saw how iffy Slocombe was today (maybe nerves) but these players are in this league for a season and with the greatest respect to Fitz, if we do want to go and win it next year, we possibly need better. I'd be more than happy with him as backup, but I doubt he'd be pleased about that

I'm a massive Cook fan and will defend him to the hilt but taking off Dallas and Colclough today blew my mind, in my opinion Dobra should have gone off but then he produced that goal which possibly justified Cooks decision to leave him on somewhat

Was crying out for McCallum to come on with 5 minutes left of extra time given he's taken a few penalties this season.

2nd half, we just sat back soooo much! Think we had one chance from Colclough, we could have afforded to push a bit more and try and get a 2nd, we were defending that lead almost from the moment we got it and it was inevitable we were gonna break at some point, I'm surprised it took so long.

Huge praise for Grimes and to a lesser extent Palmer. Defended with their lives today.

I'm proud! All the talk pre match was how County deserve to go up with 107 points and some expected a rollover, we matched them today and we didn't even play as well as we could have which I think is the disappointing thing, we absolutely had them on toast for the first part of that first half and a second goal would have killed it for them but we never got it in normal time

I thought that Grimes today showed why he has played every minute of every league match for us this season and I think that was Palmers best match by far since signing from County

Some bloke with 40 odd goals this season hardly had a chance to add to that

I’d go so far as to say that was the back 4 best performance of the season, unfortunately an error by the keeper with 2 mins left did for us
A new hope.

Thought Grimes was immense today. He won about three consecutive headers to clear within a couple of minutes. I have never really understood the criticism of him. Okay he sometimes gets caught out on the ground and he did give an awful pass to Clements which resulted in a Notts chance, but any defender at any level will makes mistakes. They key is not to make too many. And he wins nearly everything in the air. Think much of the criticism of him was unfounded, although he does seem to have improved recently. Anyone expecting a perfect centre half at this level is going to remain expecting. I expect even Franz Beckenbauer made occasional mistakes.
It's the same with goalkeepers. You just hope consistency will outweigh the odd inevitable mistake. The lower the level the more likely there will be mistakes.

First thing we need to do for next season is get rid of all the wrist slitters and attention seekers on this board, would make it a far better experience than having to listen to the same bores come out with the same rubbish after every goal conceded or defeat, say Ayy if you agree lol.

Not writing off our chances of signing Dallas.

Yes there'll be a queue of league clubs looking at him, but surely our backing means we can make a competitive offer. Just depends if he'd rather be in the EFL with a possibly smaller club or waiting another season to do it with Town...

Picking a single isolated incident in a game as being the one and only reason we lost the game is surely a fruitless exercise. Football is littered with iffy incidents, silly mistakes, poor decisions, and that's before a game even kicks off. But here's one factor from the game that did make a difference as it turned out. Notts County prepared for a penalty shoot-out by bringing on a tall shot-stopper. The scores were even after 120 minutes of football, but they were promoted back to the Football League by scoring just one more penalty than the Spireites. Tight margins indeed. Up the Blues.

Hate to say it.
Nathan Ashmore would be the man for me.

I’ve always had a sneaking feeling since his “incident” here a few yrs ago that he almost seems contrite with our fans when we play against him again. Almost a “don’t burn your bridges” mentality!

True. I suppose if you’re good at everything you don’t play National League football. He’ll be more gutted than anyone today.

Agreed. Do we want someone who was hell bent on doing our club untold harm? Unforgivable.

Bostock was taking a free kick from the left with his left foot, so everyone was obviously expecting a ball into the middle, which would be the natural thing to do. Our defenders were correctly therefore positioned to deal with a cross, as was Fitzsimons. The goal has to be put down to clever planning by NC staff, and Fitzsimons leaving too much space to his right, just as the NC staff had noted. I do think, however, that Fitzsimons should have saved it, as it wasn't a particularly powerful effort. He was also, IMO, at fault for their second goal because, although the final shot was a fluke which bounced up and looped over him, a stronger keeper would have dealt better with the initial cross. After saying all that, I think he's a perfectly good keeper for the level we are at, and will be fine for next season. Anyone expecting to see a Peter Smeichel clone at our level is living in cloud cuckoo land.

Get a grip man ... Did you come to Wembley with Walton, and did you bunk with him because you make good bedfellows

Offer him a competitive deal with a release clause if we don’t go up or tied to an attractive extra year if we do. I’m with you I wouldn’t rule it out yet!
