So a team in the Championship want to keep him, potentially other higher placed teams want him but he wouldnt do a job for us....hmmm....

Potentially location could come into it if we did want him, he's from fairly local to here and there was talk of him wanting to be closer to home so depends on where that other interest is from.

I watched the Leeds match when they won 1.0 and he was outstanding and so fit and read the game just like Graham Cross did as the best centre half I have seen in a town shirt.

However he only joined them in Feb having made 20 odd appearances for a Coventry side up the other end of the table. Blackburn had conceded 55 goals in 29 games prior to his arrival at 1.89 goals per game. They then conceded 15 in 17 games after he arrived at 0.94 goals per game after he arrived of which he featured in 11 of those 15 games. That would suggest he improved things at the back for them.

Their fans like him a lot, but it sounds like he was badly exposed to pace playing in a back 4 with a high-line, which is what Cook will continue with next season, you'd have thought. Eustace dropped the defence deeper and played him the centre of a back three and it sounds like he was very good after that. If he is to sign we still desperately need some pace at CB alongside IMO

spireitetoo in the mud

He has been offered a 1 year extension by Blackburn I was told, but also has a family wanting to move closer to home - and is good mates with Naylor. Burton also keen.

If we get him, it's because we have offered him a 2 year deal.

37 yr old... every little niggly injury will be a game or 2 out, maybe longer, and ya wanna give him a 2yr deal ?

Sod that, I'd rather have Freckleton and he'd probs be on a lower wage.

Build for the future not signing dad's army.
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

I think he’d be a cracking addition but even so a two year deal would worry me slightly. However, if we offered a year with a clause that triggered a second based on x number of appearances/minutes, I’d be OK with that.

Depends how important location is in his thinking....if a one year deal but he's only 20\30mins from home for once it could swing things.

Not even that. He lives in Eckington apparently.

I'm sure PC and the powers that be will have discussed all this with the medical team before reaching a decision. If we are in for him, I trust their findings are not the same as your assumptions.

Don't be shocked if he arrives.
Allegedly wants to come here.

Looking at his number of appearances per season even post 30yrs old he doesn’t appear to be one that’s had injury problems in the past. Any player could get injured after we signed them.

Cryptic message on Twitter from the club? Something brewing?

The sleuths are on it. Ticket implies Chesterfield to Qatar in May 2023 - reckon it’s Akinola (them, not me)

Surely if it Akinola the flight would be QTR to CHE not the other way round.
