Think Burton will be back in non league in a few years. Low crowds, supporter apathy. They’ve been punching above there weight now for a few years and father time eventually catching up with them.

Whereabouts? We’ve been away for a week but sure that when we left the ones on the road had gone I thought as they have resurfaced between storrs road and holymoorside which covered them. All the road side ones went a while back and replaced with a few temp 30mph ones.

That’s gone now as part of the resurfacing.


If they sat in Westbrook, Brookside bar or Brookside Glen these days they’d have a field day with catching folk. There was one sign that flashed up telling you to slow down to 40 as you came down the hill into town but as that’s now the wrong speed limit it’s been turned off.

It’s only the wide part that’s going to be a cycle lane. Comes out of somersall park up to the lights at storrs road then along to junction at holymoorside. Plenty wide enough along that part. Plan was to go through the fields from somersall park to holymoorside but all manner of stories about why it hasn’t. For what it’s worth I’ll use it as I cycle to work at chesterfield college 3 or 4 times a week. Hopefully it’ll slow the traffic down as well as the stretch from Brookfield school up to holymoorside is driven far too fast by a lot of folk including loads of truck drivers going both directions. It’s now 30 all the way past holymoorside not that it’s bothered a lot of them.
