You have to question when all and sundry can see the problems, what do the coaching staff see, surely they all can't be of the same mindset or is Southgate such an authoritarian person (I doubt it) that their input is minimal?

Or maybe it's all a big ruse, giving the teams we should meet later a false impression and we then go all guns a blazing and catch them on the hop.

Not sure how much truth was ever in this our midfield must be oversubscribed all ready

Agreed, it probably was some local (Brummie) type journo trying to make the deal sound better by naming the 2 promoted sides. He always gave the impression of being a nob maybe a case of " when Rome etc". Can't see him being a Cookie type character especially after his endeavours in getting Grimes sent off.

Micky carrolls claim to fame for us as I recall was scoring in a 1-1 draw at Burnley at the end of the 81/82 season

And he had played in a non league final at wembley prior to joining us

I have recollections of him been through on goal (Cross St. end) the keeper wipping him out and getting away with a yellow when it was a Mandatory red, except against us. Nowt changes

I maintained the production machines that made many parts for airbus. The controls of production and traceability were outstanding. We even weighed parts before and after painting so you knew exactly how thick the paint hence the part was painted correctly. They knew exactly how much the planes weigh unladen to +/- 1KG. They could trace parts to the machine, what tools were used, date and time of the day, who made them, who inspected them etc

Traceability was indeed outstanding and expensive in both the aerospace and nuclear industries going back to the original mill certs showing all component materials in manufacture of any specific product. Any future failings of a one off component then resulting in all batches of components on the related cert package being 'pulled' from either production or if in use. Costly in compo and or manufacture loss.
