Sincere condolences.
My Grandad tuck my Dad to his first Town match versus Blackpool to see Stanley Mathews play, my Dad remembered being passed over mens heads to sit crossed legged close to the touchline along Compton Street.
My Dad passed away 6 years ago yesterday, and I know he would be heartbroken to see the sorry straight his beloved Town are in.
RIP and god bless.

So sorry to hear of your loss Nigel, condolences at this very sad time.
Like many others it was my Dad who took me to my first game at Saltergate and we drew 2-2 against Lincoln. Again, I can still remember the crowd noises and support which I have now from all those years ago and I am proud to have continued the family tradition with my youngest son and grandkids both avid supporters. Not bad considering my youngest grandson has only just passed 5 years old so has endured a pretty torrid start to life as a Spireite!

My Dad Cliff Goodlad sadly passed away yesterday.
He started watching Chesterfield in 1937 and was a regular at home until a couple of years ago when ill health prevented him doing so.
Told me so many stories about our most successful period and was ultimately responsible for my love of the club taking me to my first ever game on 14th October 1960.
We beat Coventry City 4 -1.
RIp Dad.
See you sometime in Blue Heaven.

Condolences to you and your family.
Your story is remarkably like mine, including I would imagine the age at which our Dads passed.
Luckily for my Dad, he passed never knowing (or imagining) that we soon would be a struggling non league club.
